Still not eating meat except fish  — 2 years ago

First, my apologies to my wonderful teammates for not being more supportive. June was a month that I struggled with finding balance between 43T and my other life. But I did read all your entries and think supportive thoughts :-)

This is the second or third time in my life that I’ve gone for 3-4 months without eating meat. But this time it feels like it could be permanent. Psychologically, the thought of eating meat just doesn’t do anything positive for me. Physically, I occasionally miss it, but not much. My decision is for ethical and environmental reasons, but I believe that there are health benefits, too. One particularly nice result is that I’ve lost a couple pounds.

So, teammates, it seems that all of us achieved some type of success with this goal/experiment. Congratulations to all of you and thanks for sharing the experience with me.

Not too shabby!  — 2 years ago

I think that it was a good change. Like said before, I don’t think that I’ll be going all-out vegetarian, but I’ll probobly lessen my meat intake.

GOOD JOB Y’ALL!

Wasn't too hard for me...  — 2 years ago

...since I rarely eat meat anyhow. I did turn down shrimp once or twice, and a bite of a turkey sandwich, and perhaps chicken once, I can’t remember. Yay for everyone who completed this goal!

Done  — 2 years ago

Another experiment successfully completed!

I think I took a couple of weeks to adapt to the new eating regime, and when I think back I definitely felt a little bit rough. Now though, I feel pretty good and don’t feel any real compulsion to begin eating meat again.

As a result, I plan on continuing to eat primarily vegetarian meals, and will probably continue to eat fish on a semi-regular basis.

Not too bad...  — 2 years ago

I’m glad that I was able to go as long as I did without meat. Seriously, my plan is to eat meat no more than 5 times a week starting today. There may be times that I make exceptions to this, but I think I’ll feel the best if I don’t eat as much meat long-term. I’m also considering going without meat for a month a few times a year now.

WE'RE ALMOST THERE!  — 2 years ago

Woohoo, we’re almost there you guys! I think that after this expierence, I’ll probobly eat less meat. No go completely vegetarian, but less meat and more veggies. It’ll be good for me, anyways!

This is finally going well...  — 2 years ago

and I’m not having to experience as much frustration with this. I’ve decided that going back to part-time vegetarianism is probably best for me. I really need to eat more fruits and vegetables, and this goal has really facilitated that. So, my plan is to go back to meat no more than 5 times a week…preferably up to 3 times a week, though. The only thing that frustrates me is that people don’t exactly support my lifestyle with being vegetarian. They don’t try to be rude about it, but there’s not even a minor amount of support in real life for this goal. So, I want to thank all of you that have supported me in this goal so well…especially you, dwlt.

Almost there  — 2 years ago

After a few days under supervision, I’m on my own for the last days of the month. I’m doing pretty well with this, even when I only have one option on the menu.

I do think that my mind is clearer too, although of course this could be entirely psychological.

Seven more days!  — 2 years ago

Wow! I guess we’re in the home stretch for this goal. I continue to struggle with this goal some. A few nights ago my mother cooked dinner and had fried chicken, and I literally got mad that I couldn’t have any. (Thankfully, that didn’t last too terribly long.) And, normally I don’t really like barbecued pork, but a coworker brought a sandwich in for lunch. This goal is definitely making me refocused, and that is the reason I took on this goal, so as challenging as it is sometimes, I’m glad I’m doing it. I just may need a little encouragement to stay focused for this last week.

I've never been sooooo thankful for cheese pizza in all my life...  — 2 years ago

because I would have caved in today if it weren’t available at a surprise birthday party I attended tonight. I’ve never wanted pepperoni so badly in all my life. LOL
