Psalms 73:25-26 is now on the list 23 months ago

I need to do a bit of review. I’ve been lazy lately. I lost track of what was important and lost sight of the importance of feasting on the greatness of Scripture.

Psalms 73:25-26

25 Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. 26 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10

9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Colossians 3:23-24

23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

2 Timothy 2:10-13

10 Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. 11 The saying is trustworthy, for:

If we have died with him, we will also live with him; 12 if we endure, we will also reign with him;
 if we deny him, he also will deny us; 13 if we are faithless, he remains faithful—for he cannot deny himself.

Philippians 2:1-11

2:1 So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, 2 complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. 3 Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Galatians 6:7-9

7 Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. 8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. 9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

Romans 12:1-2

1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Psalms 50:14-15

Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and perform your vows to the Most High,
and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”

The Official List So Far... 2 years ago

Here is what I have commited to memory so far. I keep reviewing this list when I go the gym. I have actually found that being at the gym really helps me with learning scripture. I have 30-40 minutes alone with all distractions removed.

The newest verse is at the bottom. I’m working on Galatians 6:7-9. Anyone else care to join in?

I’d love to work on Bible Verses with others here on 43things.

If we have died with him, we will also live with him; 12 if we endure, we will also reign with him;
if we deny him, he also will deny us; 13 if we are faithless, he remains faithful—

for he cannot deny himself.

Yikes 3 years ago

42 weeks ago since my last entry. Wow. It really puts things in focus to see how much time passes.

42 weeks ago things were so different in my life.

Oh well…The verse that I have commited to memory last was

Psalms 50:14-15

Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving,
and perform your vows to the Most High,
and call upon me in the day of trouble;
I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”

This is one of those promises of God that I need to grab hold of and not let go. So often I do not give to God the proper sacarific. So often I get off track and try and offer him my deeds, or works, or rightenousness. That files in the face of what Christ has done. God wants me to offer thanksgiving. He wants my heart to be joyful.

I can be joyful that when I call upon him in my troubles he will deliver me.

What a great promise.

So that you may live properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one. 4 years ago

I like the last part. Live quietly, work with your own hands, dependent on no one.

1 Thessalonians 4:9-12

9 Now concerning brotherly love you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another
10 for that indeed is what you are doing to all the brothers throughout Macedonia. But we urge you, brothers, to do this more and more,
11 and to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you,
12 so that you may live properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one.

The First Miracle 4 years ago

So I’ve decied to start a Bible study. We are starting with the book of James. James deals with living a Godly life. At our first meeting we took a look at Psalms 15. Psalms 15 ask a very simple question. Who will live with God? If you think you stand a chance…Read this and see how you measure up. Grace is a wonderful thing. I’m glad that I strive to keep these precepts, not to save my soul, but simple as a way of being grateful to my Lord for my salvation. I figured this would be a good verse to start with.

PSALMS 15

LORD, who shall sojourn in your tent?
Who shall dwell on your holy hill?

He who walks blamelessly and does what is right
and speaks truth in his heart;
who does not slander with his tongue
and does no evil to his neighbor,
nor takes up a reproach against his friend;
in whose eyes a vile person is despised,
but who honors those who fear the LORD;
who swears to his own hurt and does not change;
who does not put out his money at interest
and does not take a bribe against the innocent.
He who does these things shall never be moved
