Des and Snickerdoodle are headed to the Grand Canyon!

Some  — 1 year ago

I’ve only lost a few pounds, but I already have another goal (the Weight Loss Sprint) that covers the same thing, so this goal is redundant. When I’m done with the sprint, I won’t need this one any more. Since I need room on my list, I’m checking it off.

Volumetrics  — 1 year ago

I read about this today, and it seems pretty straightforward and sensible (like all of these things, I guess). The idea is to eat low-calorie, high-volume foods that fill you up even though you’ve had fewer calories.

Here’s a US link and a UK link.

It has some good reviews, and just thought I’d share. Perhaps I’ll get the book when I get my next vouchers and report back.

Note: the authors call it a “weight-management plan” rather than a “diet”.

(Lack of) Progress  — 1 year ago

I appear to be stuck at 170, so I’ve not even hit 12st yet. Perhaps this is the weight I’m supposed to be.

Target  — 1 year ago

I still want to lose a few more pounds, so I’m targeting 164. This would give me a BMI of 23.5, and bring me back under 12st (a weight I haven’t been for over 10 years). I’m not setting a timetable on this, although I may if there’s another sprint.

Begin Again  — 1 year ago

I’m back up to 178 (which is still 6 pounds below where I was when I started), probably due to the fact that I’ve not being paying much attention to what I’ve been eating (apart from in Walt Disney World, where considerable attention was paid to eating a lot).

So, once I’ve eaten these Bottlecaps, I’ll start paying attention to my diet again. ;-)

A lot of damage...  — 1 year ago

...was done at Walt Disney World. I am up 3 pounds from where I last remember being. Basically I’m back where I started, although fortunately I didn’t go as high as I did after my last trip to WDW.

So now I have 8 pounds to go to my goal weight. I’m glad the weather is getting nicer so it will be easier to get in some exercise.

Weigh-In  — 1 year ago

I’ve lost 4 pounds since I set myself a proper target. Current weight: 175 pounds.

The Reverse Diet  — 1 year ago

This post popped up in my blog reader earlier, which discusses a book about a diet where “you could lose weight by eating dinner for breakfast”.

You eat like a king in the morning, a prince at lunch, and a pauper at dinner.

The author claims to have over lost 150 pounds and then maintained that weight for 6 years.

It’s an interesting idea, though I don’t understand why reversing meals this way causes weight loss. That said, I am aware that if I eat breakfast (large or small) I become a lot hungrier, sooner. So perhaps there is some merit to it.

I doubt I’ll experiment with this (although I feel like I should) because I am absolutely not a morning person!

Target  — 1 year ago

I think I’m going to try and get to 170 before I get to WDW (Boma Boma Boma!). Unfortunately, that means I need to lose 9 pounds.

Here goes nothing.

I always...  — 1 year ago

...gain weight when Dwlt is here visiting. I think it’s because I usually eat three largish meals a day when he’s here, because he does. I simply don’t require that many calories. (Really, that’s most people’s problem, isn’t it!)

So I’ve taken those extra pounds off again, and now I still have 5 pounds to go.
