I am giving up on this, because it will just never happen. Sleeping more than seven hours puts me in severe pain due to a lower back problem. That’s about all that I can do at this time.

I have not done too well with this goal. I have a low back problem and sleeping more than 6 hours or so causes me to have severe pain in my back and I have a hard time getting out of the bed.

However, I was so tired Thursday night that I did go to bed at 9:30 p.m. I ended up sleeping until about 7:00 a.m. today. :)

I went to the sleep study center last night to be retested after having used my CPAP device for about six years. I got a call from the doctor up in the morning telling me the results.

It appears that my sleep apnea condition has worsened. Instead of a CPAP machine which blows constant air pressure, I will now be using a Bi-PAP machine because the pressures are going to double from 8 cm/sec to 16 cm/sec. The Bi-PAP machine will actually reduce the pressure on the exhale to make it easier for breathing.

This was a little disheartening, but at least I know why I have been sleepy in the afternoons lately.

Last night was a very bad night. I got about five hours of sleep if that much. I went to bed around 1:00 a.m. I know that I looked at the clock like four times. The last time I remember was some time after 2:00 a.m. I had to get up at 7:00 a.m. to take my son to school. I made that and got to work 30 minute later, but it was a rough day.

Now I am sort of wired, because I had to leave work early to go to the doctor. When I got home, I fell asleep in my chair in front of the television. :(

I have been doing a lot better on this goal as of late. I believe I slept less than 8 hours only on one night this past week. I have felt a lot better lately due to this.

Except for last night, and probably tonight, I have been doing better at this goal. I have been sleeping eight hours each night for the past week or so. I am still tired in the afternoons due to my sleep apnea. My sleep specialist told me yesterday that he wants to conduct a study on me again. Yes! Hopefully we can get this under control. :)



really bad lately 3 years ago

I am not sure what is going on other than just spending too much time at the computer, but I have not felt like going to sleep until after 2:00 a.m. the past few nights. I feel pretty good today, but it took a real toll on me yesterday.

I need to get back into a normal groove before my wife tells me that I can sleep with our Lab out back. :)

I made a big mistake last night. I installed a new game on my Power Mac. Before I realized it, the time was 1:15 a.m. and I had to get up early to get to work. I can definitely tell the difference today with only 6 hours of sleep compared to the almost 8+ hours that I got three of the past four days.

... one of my other goals, that is. I definitely did not get up when my alarm went off this morning, but the 9 hours of sleep that I had last night was great. That is, by far, the most I have slept in a long time. I am so far behind on sleep. I will never catch up, though.

I generally sleep around 6 hours per night which is not nearly enough, especially since I have sleep apnea. I need to sleep more each night.
