did you know that you can turn a photo into a postcard? makes sense when you think about it. any 4×6 or smaller photo can be mailed as a postcard. you can back it with paper if you want, or you can just write right on the back. i’ve used sharpies because they won’t smear. just draw yourself a line to separate the address on the right from your message on the left. and make sure you leave a blank space at least a half inch on the bottom of the postcard, especially on the right side, for the postoffice to print things. stick a postcard stamp on it (or a regular stamp) and you’re ready to go!
i’ve become addicted in the last week or so. i’ve mailed out 14 photos. 3 as birthday cards, 1 as a thank you note, 5 to various family members, and the rest to friends. in fact, i think i’ll make another right now. maybe i’ll take a picture and show you!

well, i mailed a birthday card to my cousin last week. and today i’m going to mail another, even though her birthday is today. (well, okay i won’t mail it today since it’s sunday, but i’ll write it today and mail it tomorrow.) it’ll be late, but better late than never! especially since this is a friend who i hardly ever have contact with. she’s never online, we hardly email, and we haven’t seen each other in person in a couple of years despite living in the same city. so it’s definitely time for a birthday card.

i mailed a “welcome to your new apartment” note to some friends of mine who moved. and just today i finished a long-ish letter to mail to another friend who replied very promptly to my last letter! how fun. so he’s getting one back right away. :)
i’m debating marking this as “finished”, but i can’t decide. if i leave it here, it might remind me to send more. but on the other hand, i have been doing it without reminders. so who knows.

In the last two weeks, I’ve mailed two letters to people out of town (one actually out of the country) and two thank you notes. Today I’m putting together a birthday present that’s also going out of the country. Yay for getting things done!

i sent postcards from my vacation, which is a start. i’m traveling again in a week or so, so i think i’ll collect some more and send them to people who didn’t get one the first time around. the first location was much more exotic and interesting, but that’s okay! it’ll still be mail, right? :) for that matter, maybe i should collect some postcards from my hometown and just send them to out-of-towners instead of letters. hmmmmm.

i keep starting letters to a friend of mine who wrote me a letter and then forgetting to send them. then when i read back over them, i don’t like them or they’re outdated and so i don’t send them.
i need to start one and finish it and put it in the mail in the same day.

i’m going to go and get ready for my day and one of the things i’m going to do is mail something to someone. because i can’t keep storing these things to send and then never send them.
i know at least two people who have moved into a new house or who will be moving into a new apartment and they need mail! because mail is fun.

so a friend of mine has mailed things to me in a toilet paper tube before. it’s fun! and quite the surprising little package to get in the mail. but, you should probably take it to the post office to mail it. once i just stuck a stamp on it, and they took it. however, i’ve done it since and it’s always required more postage because it’s not a standard envelope (duh). just make sure you tape up the ends really well!
i mention this because i just rescued a nice looking tube and i think i’m going to use it to send someone a letter….
