2007: Eight books 10 months ago

I checked today and could only count eight. Not good. Must do better in 2008.

I love reading, but having an 18-month old does eliminate reading time.

Leaving Microsoft to Change the World by John Wood 1 year ago

The experience of John Wood, a former senior executive at Microsoft, who left to found “Room to Read.” Room to Read is an NGO that has donated over a million books to schools in developing nations, and built the libraries and other buildings to house them in. I loved this book!

Short and very sweet, but still a book read for February.

The Innocent Man: Murder and Injustice in a Small Town by John Grisham 1 year ago

Way back, I was a John Grisham fan. I waited impatiently for each new release. However, a few novels ago I lost my passion for the novels, as the author’s formula seemed to have been repeated to many times.

This latest book is John Grisham’s first attempt at writing non-fiction and it has brought me back as a fan. If you liked his first books you will love this and it has the added factor of having you think “I cannot believe this REALLY happened.”

I Don't Know How She Does It by Allison Pearson 1 year ago

Light-hearted story of an executive also balancing motherhood and marriage. While her male colleagues are acclaimed as fantastic dads when they take time off for a school concert, she is looked at as stealing company time. Much truth is in this book, but it is written in a comical manner.

Losing My Virginity by Richard Branson 2 years ago

Loved it. I modern day adventurer and a classic entrepreneur. Motivating stories, some surprisingly honest and some I’m sure are exaggarated, but then, Richard appears as an exaggarated personality in all his pursuits.

naked conversations by Robert Scrobel and Shel Israel 2 years ago

Describes the differnt ways businesses are using blogs to interact with their customers. Some inspiring success stories and some interesting case studies of how not to try and manipulate your customers using a blog. Great balance of examples, technical issues (what is RSS for example) and a good focus on the personalities behind some corporate blogs. Loved this book and recommended my step-father-in-law start a blog for his morgage broker business.

The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio by Terry Ryan 2 years ago

Read what I though of it here.

Changed to monthly 2 years ago

Now with a baby, I was never going to accomplish a book a week. I have changed the goal to monthly, which is obtainanble. And if I read more – that’s fantastic!

Absolutely Faking It by Tiana Templeman 2 years ago

Easy to read, descriptions of fascinating travel spots, bits of history and humourous incidents.
