I wanna do it, but I haven’t been able to, and I need to concentrate on other things right now. So it’ll just have to *$&&#&!!! wait until later. #($$((!!!

this is SO not going well.

not bad 2 years ago

I’m truly not doing so bad with this. Once a conscious effort is made, it’s really phenomenal how things turn around. I want to start learning some really cool words to replace my expletives. We could all stand to learn some cool words. I’ll make that another goal.

I don’t necessarily know how to go about this, but so far I’ve:

told people I’m doing it
am mostly becoming aware of when I’m doing it
pausing to use another word (even if it’s a made up word) when I do it

trucker's mouth 2 years ago

I have a trucker’s mouth. Maybe worse. I can’t believe how much I swear, even when I don’t intend to swear. I’ve been able to stop the purpose-ful swearing to make a point (although it makes me pause to think quite often), but the unconscious swearing has me surprised. I didn’t think it was so habitual. Thought it’d be easy to break, somehow.

shock value 2 years ago

Swearing is great for shock value and to make a point, but the problem is that it also offends people. So I’ve decided that I am going to increase my vocabulary and stop swearing.

I thought about just cutting down on swearing, or trying not to swear as much, but that just won’t work. Swearing is like giving voice (energy) to something negative, and possibly even extending that negativity to others. My spirtuality won’t allow that—the person I want to be won’t allow that.
