Giving myself two weeks... 1 year ago

To continue working on three things to submit to the group: a story and two shorter offerings.

I also plan to sort out my non-fiction re the move, for reasons that I haven’t yet become clear, exactly!

To explore another outlet flagged up by a friend last week.

It's all about the words... 1 year ago

Just to keep track with what I’ve been doing:

I blogged about the move, and day-by-day since then (in excess of 4,000 words) but I’ve yet to post it.

Wrote a nine page letter to a friend the day after I moved, to catch her up on the last year.

Took an old piece along to my writers group, because I may re-work it.

Working on two new stories and a poem (I seem to be back in the zone with the poetry, which is intriguing.)

Reward: renewing my NZSA membership.

Goal completed: 20 June 2007, a bit late, but done nonetheless.

I’m currently on about 7,500 words of novel draft. Feel rather uninspired so I’m not sure if I’ll make the target this week. Will try again tonight.

By next Sunday, I want to:
  • Get the novel draft word count up to 8,500
  • Write a blog entry
  • Spend at least an hour during the week writing letters
  • Spend at least an hour during the week working on the novel

Reward: Join two new bookrings.

This week 1 year ago

Writing hasn’t been a high priority for me lately, but I’m planning to set aside 3 hours for the toxic jelly short script tomorrow afternoon, and might get a session in next Sunday if nothing else comes up.

I will also go to the screenwriting class on Wednesday, which will hopefully provide some inspiration to keep at it! At last week’s class, the emphasis was on the importance of networking and how being a screenwriter is different from being a novelist in this respect, because making films is a collaborative effort.

Hmm, am pretty hopeless at networking. Maybe I should write a novel instead ;)
