I think I’m going to set this one over to the done list. Only because there are some goals I’d like to add to my list and work on so I need to look at what I’ve done and what still needs doing and what is just the fun fluff between. It has been quite enjoyable to hear everyone’s stories and catch little glipses of their personalities, so I definately plan to check back in from time to time and continue reading along.

I’m fascinated by what we project through our online personas.

wraiths82 is daydreaming about possibilities!

Thank you to NYCinephile who invited me and here's my explanation for my name on 43things and names period.... 1 year ago

Wraiths82 is simple a combination of myself. The Wraith is my favorite movie with Charlie Sheen about cars, love and death. If I could own the car from the movie I’d be very happy indeed. 82, is short for the year I was born-1982. Using wraiths82 is saying my favorite movie with the year I was born.

I have also used names that invoke images/sounds/feelings such as softwispurring1 and quietlyalonehere for emails, etc. I will often use a name if I like the meaning behind it. For example on Ancient Anguish, a mud game, I use Orev, which in Indian means Raven.

My screen name is inspired by one of my earliest inspirations. I was a big devotee of Canadian children’s television (I grew up in Michigan), particularly the 15-minute broadcast of The Friendly Giant. For denizens of the States who never had the pleasure, the conceit was as follows: a full-size male actor, dressed in fairy-tale giant get up, lives in a castle and has a number of animal friends who hang out with him there. These are all portrayed by larger and smaller puppets: Jerome, the giraffe, a couple of siamese cats who don’t say much (or is one a raccoon?) and, of course, Rusty the rooster. The giant and the cats all play recorders (although I seem to remember some sort of jazz trio combo also?), Jerome dances around and Rusty . . . plays harp. On this show there was real harp music because Rusty was backed up by a Toronto professional, John Duncan. He also played the theme music, a fantasy on “Early One Morning.”

While this is certainly not the only inspiration I had to do such a thing, it certainly helped reinforce the possibility. But since Rusty was my role model, I am now “Rusty’s protégée.”

Aimee told me in another post that her parents named her after that song by Pure Prairie League. So, I’m going to assume Aimee is her real first name.

I herby challenge my subscribers to explain the meaning of my username.

Fair? This challenge will serve two purposes simultaneously. It’ll help me finish this goal that NYCinephile invited me to ages ago. It’ll also give me an idea of who my dear subscribers are.

Ready. Set. Go.
