I first read The Hour (Michael Cunningham) three years back and found the book wonderful. I thought he was original and I thought the idea of putting so much emotions and a little plot is amazing. The book led to Mrs. Dalloway (this is what I call books in autobiographical order, one book leads to another) which after reading it I realised that Cunningham is not that original after all. 94 % of Mrs Dalloway is what the characters feel and think and the remaining 6 % the plots. Virginia is now on top of my list of women writers…
p/s: I may cheat a bit because I finished the book on Dec 30, but it was not counted in last year’s list so I think it’s ok :)
