In an effort to improve my spelling, I got a plug-in for firefox that lets me do in-line spell checking, rather then copy into something like word. It’s not perfect (I still forget to use it sometimes) but it helps me catch a lot of silly mistakes, and at least be aware more of what I’m writing.

Insperation is one of the things that I have a problem with, not perhaps in the traditional sense – I have a desire to do things, I have ideas I am passionate about, but I just don’t commit to them, I never do anything with them because I don’t see the whole picture, something is missing – A tool, Confidence in the idea, Trust in my own abilites, Some part of the idea been incomplete.
What ever the reason, I usually end up procrastinating, it’s very easy these days to say “It’s not my fault, I have ADAD” or some such, and to a degree thats probably true. But at the same time, I know that it’s also an excuse, I know if I really made the effort I could deal with the way my mind works, and the fact I get so easily distracted.
One article did get my attention this morning was on DIY Planner, about Useing Tarot Cards For Insperation the idea been you draw a card for each section of your story, and use the cards to emote a response and form a model (I’m paraphrasing a lot) which got me to think, that maybe the place to start is to forgo thinking about any kind of big picture at all, and just start to collect little details, character ideas for books, themes, blog ideas and keep them safe somewhere I can revisit and improve them so when I have a collection I can pull out the bits I want, and weave them into something more once I have enough material to keep me going.
I know I want to write, but what I want to write about varies from day to day, I have a lust to learn new things, on an academic level (Philosophy and Religion both interest me) and a big part of the academic process is writing.
On the other hand, I do like the idea of writing a novel, or novels, but my ideas always feel to shallow and self serving then something that others would enjoy, nothing more then elaborate day dreaming, then actual ideas for a story.
I even like the whole idea of the writing process, just getting down to it and setting my self to task at the whole thing, so obviously the next step is to just writing anything, and see what I can develop.
