I picked up a book while we were out and about this weekend. It’s basically a visual dictionary called the First Thousand Words in Russian.

My only complaint with it is that it doesn’t have accent marks. You can tell what syllables are supposed to be accented in the phonetic equivalent under the words, but it would be nice to have those accent marks in place.
I really wish I could find Sesame Street episodes in Russian on DVD! I think that would be very helpful. : )

a website that streams Russian TV. It’s been a long time since I’ve listened to a native speaker so most of what I’m hearing is going right over my head. lol. But I thought that maybe other people with this goal might find it a helpful resource too. You can also check these sites for Russian streams as well.

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis in Russian in December. Since I haven’t done much on this goal (at all) lately, I’m thinking of trying to “translate” my Russian copy into English. This will help to refresh my memory on the vocabulary that’s rapidly escaping my brain and will hopefully remind me of some of the grammar as well. : )

I took two years of Russian in college with an awesome teacher. I’m pretty good at remembering the vocabulary, but not so great at the grammar. I haven’t been reviewing my words like I should so I’m starting to forget them. If I ever want to be even remotely understandable someday, I really need to get busy on this.
