Albita today is the day.
Ohh! I was doing so well and somehow got off track. Gonna get back on it soon-I promise. There are some grapes in my fridge, I’m going to get them out right now!

It’s been a while since I wrote in and a lot has happened. Some how breaking up with my boyfriend has helped my eating habits-not a surprise since he was a habitual “go out to eater”...now I am cooking more which means actually going to the grocery store on a regular basis and being around better-self made-choices for food. I cleaned out my fridge (lower level) yesterday and organized my fruits and veggies in a very visible manner so that my choices are clear, there’s not much else in the fridge anyway. I’ve also really lowered my purchase of meat products-just some ground turkey and some turkey deli cuts this week. I’m still struggling with eating more vegetables, I think it’s because they are not as “ready to eat” as fruits but, EXCELLENT progress on the fruit front. I’m now eating fruits and some nuts or other small nutritious things for breakfeast/lunch. Traveling less (my job had entailed me to be quite a road warrior these past two months) has also made it easier for me to keep fruits and veggies around during the day.
Well that’s all for now, if anyone has any suggestions on how to better incorporate veggies, especially things that don’t have to be cooked let me know. Good luck team “Eat more fruits and vegetables” :)
haven’t eaten any fruit nor vegetables in 3 days.
am also ill. just when i need it most. will go to supermarket and maybe pick something up
feel like watermelon.
does orange juice count?
Last week could have been better, but given my recent eating patterns, I’ve made a little progress. One major step forward was the discovery of a fast-food joint known as Know Fat. It’s like a GNC store, but with a kitchen in the back. The food is really good there, I think, and the prices reasonable. Yesterday, I had steak tips with three sides – fries (not deep fried), broccoli, and the vegetable medley. The medley is not as bursting with nutrients as it could be – I’m not sure why they fill it with so many veggies with a low nutrient content, but it’s better than what I’ve been eating, and certainly tastes flavorful. For the moment, it has also made me excited about going to the gym, which is just next door. Hard to go to one place now without going to the other.
MIRV MIRV version 2.0 launches today
Today was a good fruit day. I had two bananas, an apple and a bowl of grape tomatoes. mmmm fruity goodness :)
They make this goal much easier. Been doing pretty well with adding small salads to lunch this week; next week I’ll try to add some fruit in at breakfast, too.

Breakfeast- woke up much too late to eat BF, not good.
Lunch-Eating cucumbers with lime juice and chili powder (reminds me of my childhood-mom had the right idea), an orange and plain tostadas.
Dinner-Yet to think of what I’m going to eat for dinner, maybe this is part of the problem because when I get home I eat what’s around and ready-which is almost never fruits or vegetables…hmm…
well, i posted this as a goal a year ago and have been doing pretty well but keep it here because i tend to fall off the wagon, particularly when i’m out of town. i definitely feel better, and my diet has certainly expanded. here’s some things that have helped me, though, these past months.
-i am not above pre-packaged food. shredded cabbage and carrots in a bag becomes easy coleslaw with lite ranch, vinegar, s&p.
-i save time by steaming hard veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, and green beans in the microwave. oil, vinegar, s&p. hot or cold. easy peasy.
-i use my least sexy, least social meal of the day to consume veggies en masse. right now i am sitting in front of my computer at work, as i do every day, so i try to pack a fruit, and at least a cup of veggies along with protein/starch. there’s 3 out of 5 suggested fruit/veg for the day. then i don’t feel so bad consuming beer and nachoes at happy hour.
-i buy a lot of veggies, particularly at the asian market because it’s cheap. then i have to eat them. same with my small garden, i feel bad to let them go to waste. my diet is often dictated by what’s going to go bad first. red peppers not gonna last another day? roast them and throw them in a sandwich. extra cukes and tomatoes? toss with olive oil, lemon juice, lots of parsley, s&p for an easy mediterranean salad. bok choy turning yellow? yummy stirfry with meat or tofu. i’m a cookbook junkie so i can always find a recipe to use my soon-to-toss veggies.
hope this helps, and let me know what tricks you’ve discovered!

WOW I made it on the team, good thing I just went to the grocery store at the beginning of the week and bought a load of fruits-I just can’t get the vegetables part together…bad news though I just ate some hot cheetos instead of eating an orange-damn! Bad choices-but I’m going to make up for it!!!!!
Had sweet potato fries (frozen, baked) rather than Girl Scout cookies when I was feeling peckish last night.
