Smoke-free 17 days and feeling fantastic 2 years ago

I don’t think I could have quit without reading this book. I had the common delusions I was “giving something up” and that quitting smoking was a terrible, painful sacrifice. Allan Carr’s book completely flipped my ideas on nicotine addiction and the reasons why I smoked, he had a rebuttal for every one of my excuses why I kept up with the nasty things. My dad is trying to do it the willpower and nicotine patch way right now, I’ve passed the book onto him but he’s very skeptical and hasn’t opened it yet. I feel bad for him watching him suffer when it’s so needless!

Welcome AngelNichole to the team! 2 years ago

Hooray! Another Easy Wayer. Yay!

Every time I see someone else read the book and stop smoking after the encouragement of the team, I get a buzz almost as massive as the one I got when I realised I never had to smoke again. It’s fantastic.

Eased my cravings & gave me a new perspective on The Need for Nicotine 2 years ago

I don’t think I would have managed to give up if I hadn’t had this book to hold onto.

It was especially helpful during the first week when the cravings were strong. During previous attempts to give up I’d be trying to push the cravings out of my mind, or wondering “would it hurt to have just one…”, or thinking “maybe this is not a good time to give up”, or going for a walk and gazing around in the hope of finding a large cigarette butt on the ground. (I’d done all this on previous attempts though I don’t usually admit to that last one!)

Instead of doing any of these things when I felt the cravings I’d read the book. Allen Carr would take those cravings, describe to me exactly what I was feeling, and show me a new perspective on how to look at them. That new perspective turned the cravings I felt upside down – the more I felt the cravings the LESS I wanted a cigarette.

That was 9 years ago. It all stayed with me. I’ve been a non-smoker ever since.

I smoked for 15 years. 2 years ago

I smoked 25 cigarettes a day, and who am I kidding, under stress or on week ends even more.
I read “Allen Carr’s Easyway to Stop Smoking” in one and a half days, keeping smoking at the time, as recommended by him. By the time I reached the point to stop, I wasn’t dreading the moment, I could not wait to finally do it. I smoked my last cigarette, which was horrendous and I extinguished it half way through, knowing that I’d never light up another one in my life.
It’s been over a year now and I am still ecstatic!
I have rid myself of a terrible bane. And it was easy.
Try it.

Amazingly effective. 2 years ago

When I first met Redbandita, who started this goal, I was still a heavy smoker, dallying with the idea of stopping at some point in the misty future. She mentioned that she had stopped just by reading a book and I kind of went, “Hm, yeah”, and shelved the idea. Again. But a few months later, I decided to give it a go. I was semi-sceptical, but I knew I had nothing to lose but the tabs.

It worked, and far better than I could ever have expected. Just reading the book changed my whole attitude to smoking, and as I finished it, I smoked my last cigarette ever, and it was disgusting. I stopped then and there, enjoyed the process of getting the nicotine out of my body as fast as I could, and I know I will never smoke again.

Don’t ask me how it works, it just does. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to give up smoking. Don’t try and do it the hard way, with so-called willpower. Don’t prolong your nicotine addiction with patches, gum and lozenges. Read this, and stop for ever. Then add your two-pennorth to Redbandita’s thread and, if you wish, yourself to this team, and help other people discover how brilliant this method really is.

To all you Easyway stoppers: 2 years ago

You are cordially invited to add a comment to this thread on my goal to show other 43ers how this book has helped you stop your nicotine addiction.
I’ve just sent out this invitation to a number of 43ers, if you want to join this goal “as a team’, let me know!

“Hi all,
Since I am on a quest to get more people to give Allen Carr’s method a go, maybe you want to join in the chorus?
As some of you may know, I am at this moment giving cheers to stoppers of all nations and creeds, because I am still over the moon that I’ve been smoke free since I read “the book”.
There are another 200+ cheers to be given on my goal of 365, and I intend to finish ths, but: instead of commenting on their efforts again and again that they should read the book, I figured it might be cool to show them just how many people on 43 were successfull with this method.
So I have set up this goal, in the hopes that you might adopt it, comment on my first entry and then tick it off as “I’ve done this!” (If you want to.)
This way, doubters can see just how successful we’ve been and we can all give them a little extra support.
Feel free to invite more 43Ters who you know have stopped smoking with Allen Carr’s Easyway to join this as a team.
It’s all in the spirit of sharing our optimism that anyone can do this, if we were able to.

So long,

redbandita”
