well if arguing with your boyfriend counts as exercise, then i have gotten a lot of exercise this week. feeling crappy because of arguments had me not going because i felt bad and because i didn’t want to go to the gym with him. anyway, i sucked it up and went today despite feeling bummed and i went by myself. 30 minutes on the bike with my book. still trying to keep it up.

i went to the gym on friday without workout partner, and then made it yesterday for some time on the bike. i also got my percentage body fat measured using an impedance test (electrodes stuck on your wrist and ankle sends electricity through you). the results = :(

i had something similar done a year ago before i had lost about 25 pounds and the difference in body fat was only 4%. that seems sucky, because it could mean that i lost a lot of muscle and bone density. of course, it was done by two different methods so it is hard to tell. the dude said he would be back in a few months to test again, so that will be the real test.

and i also did some strength training last night. trying to stay motivated!

that fat measuring thing isn’t happening until next week. doh. well whatever, i still made it to the gym today, so i am still on track. and really, i have gotten just a bit too much bad news lately to also be finding out what percentage fat i am. one thing at a time please. also, there will come a day when i will once again enjoy lifting my hands over my head without pain. right….?

so i have gone to the gym three times in the past six days. i think that means i am off to a very good start. it also means that i can barely type because i did weights today and my arms are like some seriously overcooked spaghettis. tonight the gym is having some event where you can go and have your percentage of fat measured, so i will do that, and i will cry, but it will give me something to work toward. and since i actually had this done a couple of years ago before i lost those 20-25 pounds, i will be able to see what progress i have made over the past year. yay for progress.

first step: getting to the gym  — 2 years ago

i went to the gym on wednesday and today, so i am off to a good start. i have a problem with my foot, so i can’t do the treadmill for cardio, which is what i have done in the past. it is bicycle city for me, and if i can find a pool, maybe i’ll do that as well. this is going to be hard for me to keep up because the problem with my foot is not likely to go away without surgery. guh. luckily, my boyfriend is eager to be my workout partner, which includes the unsavory task of hauling my ass out of bed in the morning before work. so far, so good.
