Do the 2008 TBR challenge

6 cheers

Emily has written 3 entries about this goal

great goal but 3 months ago

reading for pleasure – even for work! – has fallen pretty low on the priority list given limited time available.

how should I do this? 9 months ago

Obviously it’s going to be piecemeal, but I’ll try to make it cumulative so they’re all in one place.

A Pigeon and a Boy – Meir Shalev
A Woman in Jerusalem – A.B. Yehoshua
La Sombra del Viento – Carlos Ruiz Zafón
The Problem of the Media – Robert McChesney
Manufacturing Consent – Noam Chomsky

coming up with a list 9 months ago

might be the hard part, but for starters:

Robert McChesney, The Problem of the Media
Noam Chomsky, Manufacturing Consent (this has been on the list for, oh, 10 years)

I think it’s the dense non-fiction books like these for which I need the most accountability.

On the other hand, a few years ago I cruised through Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States like it was Anne of Green Gables, so you never know; the right level of political outrage can be as compelling as anything.
