Get my restricted license

I haven’t actually completed this, but I had it as my Personal Challenge, and as i’ve learnt with personal challenges, it will say ‘failed’ and I won’t be able to change it. So i’m marking this done as my challenge is due in a day or two.

I’m ready to get my restricted, my instructor has spoken to my parents and said they feel i’m prepared. The only thing stopping me is that i’d like to buy my own car to sit my restricted test in. I’ve found the perfect car, except for the price! I have money saved, but not as much as I need. I may find a way to overcome this shortfall of funds stopping me getting my restricted, by borrowing my sisters car to sit the test in. She’s offered to lend it to me for awhile. I’ll see how it goes, and keep posting entries until i’ve really completed this. :)

I really feel i’ve mastered driving :)}

my Mum told me today that her & my father are pretty much going to give me a car. That’s quite motivating…

My instructor says i’m ready! I feel ready too. Now it’s just a matter of when and where. Yes! ;)

Drove my Dad around a lot on the weekend just to get the practice in. Their driveway is pretty horrid but I eventually got out of it in reverse. I need more practice on that I think!!

All was well, just need to practice and memorise a few things in the road code.

It will be so good to get back behind the wheel :)

I had over 2 hours practice yesterday with mum. I was driving with my brother in the car for only the second time which I wasn’t too nervous about.

Then this morning I took dad driving. I drove him out to breakfast. :) That was almost an hour…

And then I drove mum to Nana’s which is over an hour and a half away. :)

I drove my Mum & Robert for the first time. It made me a little nervous as my Mum kept telling me things to do which is good but still…

I also reversed out of my parents driveway for the first time which is no small feat, it’s an awkward bend!

Yay I got practice both weekend days!

I drove around & did some parallel parking practice. My Dad’s pretty confident that I would have a high chance of passing if I took the test soon. I think I need to refamiliarise myself with the road code (should really do that prior to driving!) & just have a few more weeks driving about. Hooray. Cannot wait.

Practiced parallel parking this weekend. It was okay, need to do more though I think, it was just a quick lesson this time.

I had a driving lesson on Saturday, it was my first more formal lesson with the guy telling me what I was doing right and wrong and what to do to improve. He generally thought I was really good and won’t need that much practice! :) I went through traffic lights (lots of them), heaps of roundabouts, and all over the city (not hard, it’s a small city). After my lesson I felt a lot more confident about my driving abilities which is why I set a deadline for my restricted :)

I drove again on Sunday for about 40 minutes.
I also drove on Monday for about 25 minutes and again and Tuesday for about an hour and a half.

Lots of good practice. :)

I need to practice further:
smoother gear changes
not giving my passenger whiplash (ooops…..)
Following the road rules very carefully. It’s the little things that count, like slowing down to 50 when the sign says to.
