“You cannot do a kindness too soon because you never know how soon it will be too late.”

As Gandhi stepped aboard a train one day, one of his shoes slipped off and landed on the track. He was unable to retrieve it as the train was moving. To the amazement of his companions, Gandhi calmly took off his other shoe and threw it back along the track to land close to the first. Asked by a fellow passenger why he did so, Gandhi smiled. “The poor man who finds the shoes lying on the track,” he replied, “will now have a pair he can use.”

“Perhaps we’re too embarrassed to change or too frightened of the consequences of showing that we actually care. But why not risk it anyway? Begin today. Carry out a random act of seemingly senseless kindness, with no expectation of reward or punishment, safe in the knowledge that one day, someone somewhere might do the same for you.”
~Lady Diana Frances Spencer
Beloved Princess of Wales

I had to take my mom on an errand. We passed an elderly man laying on the sidewalk around 6am. No coat or hat and it was 32 degrees here this morning. I passed by before I realized it, but circled back to where he was. I saw he was moving and asked did he need help. He said yes, I saw he was bleeding. I called 911 from my cell phone and waited for them to respond.

Pay It Forward is like a personal vendetta I have. Whenever I see somewhere anywhere and need help, whether they are hungry or seems to be having trouble are anything I help.Just yesterday I stopped by Burger King to get a sandwich and fries because I was hungry and I knew it was going to be about an hour before dinner get ready. When I was coming out a man was outside asking people for money because he was hungry so I just gave him my food. I look at it this way, anyone who need some help can be my birth mom or birth dad or my sister or brother or that person could have been sent by God himself to see if I would have done what God did. Also at the end of the day you will feel much better to know you helped someone out of the goodness of your heart.

I went to a sandwich shop yesterday, there was an old man pulling change from every pocket he had. He was trying to get enough to pay for a sandwich after asking the cashier which one was the cheapest. I offered to pay for his sandwich. The owner heard me and told the man he could have the food. I offered the owner money and he refused to accept it. The man was very thankful to both of us. He went out the door and came back in to thank us again. My grandson was with me at the time and I told him that’s how you get your blessings.

Whenever I’m driving on the freeway and I see someone pulled over, emergency lights on, it seems so easy to think, ‘I bet they’ve already called a friend, or a tow truck.’ Would it really take that much time out of my trip to pull over and ask if they need to use my phone?
When I am considering it, I hear my mom in the back of my head telling me that I need to be careful. I know I’m not a big guy, and I could easily get taken down by a bigger man, but what excuse do I have when it is a young girl, or an elderly man or woman? I don’t have one.

I saw a lady running toward the bus stop this morning, the bus sped by without slowing down. I stopped and offered her a ride. She was very appreciative.

Be attentive wherever you are for opportunities to help someone. Perhaps you have an elderly or disabled neighbor who is too proud to ask for help with their yardwork; or maybe you’re in a restaurant and see someone who looks like they could use some kind stranger to pay for their meal. You can change people’s attitudes about the world through your unobtrusive acts of kindness.
