Proabably 4 or 5 ears ago went to the fast lane. Never looked back! Once you try this and the speed and how nice that is I can’t imagien having dial up again. 5 years ago
Ever since I hooked up the high-speed, my only complaint is that my call display has been awol. At one point I called the phone company to ask them about it, but the woman I got on the phone was incredibly rude and kept insisting that I’d never had call display, which is crap, I still had the previous calls listed on my phone up until the day I hooked up the adsl. I should complain like I meant to… but that’s another story.
Today (after much trial and error) I figured it out. The little filter for the high-speed negates the signal for the call display. I checked out the website for the filter company & eventually found a little blurb on this and the filter I need.
I called my service provider & after a billion hours on hold (listening to “Flight of the Bumblebees” repeatedly), I got a nice tech guy who was really impressed that I’d done all the research on the issue & said he’d try to get a hold of one for me. I think they want to bill me though, and I think they should pay for it, since I’ve been the one paying for a service the filter they’d given me buggered up. I’ve been a good customer for close to 10 years, and I just think it would be a nice gesture, since I did all of the work for them.
I’m pleased that I figured out the problem & how to solve it, and hopefully it’ll be resolved soon. 5 years ago
I’m typing this very entry from my laptop, which is not plugged in to a phoneline! Yes- I’ve got broadband, and not only broadband, but wireless broadband!
Fast internet is making me happy!!I may take “Worth doing” back.
We had some trouble with our DSL at first, but for several months it worked fine. Then my wife didn’t pay the bill and they shut it off. OK, she paid up and they turned it back on- but we couldn’t get connected. She called a couple of times and they couldn’t get it working. So they decided to send someone out to check the outside lines. OK, remember this part-
It was working fine until they shut it off!
The guy that came out said that the outside lines were OK, but it still didn’t work. So they decided that someone needed to come to check the inside lines. Does this sound familiar?
It was working fine until they shut it off!!
My wife went into work late so she could be here for him to get inside. The guy came, tested stuff, and said that the wall jack was bad.
It was working fine until they shut it off!
He replaced the wall jack and left all of the DSL cables unplugged. Since I didn’t unplug them I didn’t remember where everything went, and I had to go through the instructions again to get things hooked back up. It still doesn’t work. The diagnostics say that the modem isn’t getting a signal from the phone line. My fucking dial-up (which I’m using right now, and have been using for 2 months) is working just fine on the same phone line.
It was working fine until they shut it off!!!
The repair guy left all of the cords unplugged, so did he even test it? If he did, then why did he disconnect them again? I’ll bet that the motherfucker just replaced the wall jack and didn’t try the modem at all.
One more time-
Wonderful

Oh so worth it.
I’m now checking out a multitude of links that I saved rather than waiting 5 years to load. Beautiful. I can’t believe this took me so long. Begone, internet shame – let us never speak of this again. YAY!!! 6 years ago
Slowly but surely my high speediness edges closer…
Today (after calling and asking why I hadn’t heard from anyone and getting several sincere sorries because I apparently should have been contacted days ago) my modem was ready for pick-up, so off to hustleybustley downtown I went to fetch it.
And here it is.
Although honestly, I really don’t want to deal with hooking things up right now, so this will have wait a little bit longer. 6 years ago
Sad but true, life just seems a whole load better when the page loads quicker!! 6 years ago
on hold. So long in fact that my battery ran out. They finally sorted things out (or so they say). Things should be up and running sometime this week. We shall see. 6 years ago
