Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

BlissfuldoubtHow I learned too let go of the past

Though I cannot say every pain and hurt is erased from my past I will say that I have made huge leaps and bounds from who I was as a person years ago. There is no secret words you can say to grow and let go of past people and pains.

Honestly the main thing is how badly do you want it?
We have two choices with each challenge we face that comes our way when we are in our “pits” so to speak.

1.) Let the pain and or challenge take us over and deter us, either keeping us in our pits or pushing us further down
2.) Choose to be so tired of being in our pits that we make the choice to take the challenge and rise above it and do everything we can possibly do to be better, to be happier, to let go.

There isn’t something magical that happens if your depressed or suffering. There isn’t going to be some knight to come sweep you from your pit and carry you away.
Because In our minds we can trap ourselves better then anyone can.
No one can hurt you better then yourself.
We are the only people who can free ourselves , even God gives us free will and if we choose (even unknowingly) to suffer, too hold on to the past or people or events then there is no one to free us but ourselves.

So when I found myself at a crossroads years ago I made my choice.
I decided to work on healing myself as much as possible and any advice (be careful which you take of course) and growth and learning I could do to help me I took in without ego or pride.

Instead of focusing on my pain and sadness I focused every ounce of energy onto getting better and changing my life.
It’s not easy at first. In a way staying in your pit for the moment in time can be easier but in the long run it isn’t. That’s why we sometimes chose to do something even if it’s bad for us.
We want the easy release….

So if you want to be free from your past CHOOSE to be free from your past. Choose to be happy, Choose to focus every ounce of energy you have to healing and that that focus and energy away from your sadness, your jealousy your whatever negative holding you back.

Today I am a way happier person when i decided to work on healing and letting go to every old thing olding me back.

To be free but also to not forget completely because the past is what shaped you to who you are now. 6 years ago
