As of today, 7/25 at 5pm, after just shy of 20 months of servitude aboard the good ship “Subordinate,” I am a free man once again. No more quotas. No more contrived schedules. No more representing a business I had grown to distrust. I have officially rejoined the ranks of the “self-employed.” Hoorah. 5 years ago

As predicted, my numbers were up in June, but not to the level I wanted… or needed. All-in-all, the first half of the year has been a disappoinrment in terms of revenues, even though I actually increased the number of sales I brought in by 10% over the corresponding period for last year.
On Monday, each of our sales team will be making a mid-year presentation to management. It will be interesting to see how the others spin their poor numbers (only one of us is above quota for the first six months). As for myself, I intend to present an honest assessment with a realistic plan of action for the second half. I’m sure there will be questions, and I’ve got most the answers. It should be an interesting day tomorrow. 5 years ago

Oh my, what a slow month May was for sales. No flowering here. All but two of our sales team missed quota. Last year May was also one of my worst months. Perhaps it is cyclic? If so, I should be looking forward to good results in June, as it was one of my best months in 2006. We shall see. 5 years ago

Not the result I had hoped for, only 53% of quota achieved in April. I can blame it on the twelve days I took off for my trip to Japan, which interrupted the selling cycle, but that still doesn’t change the numbers. I need to pick up the pace. 6 years ago

Everyone in Las Vegas seems to be focused this month on the UNLV Running Rebels basketball team and their ascent to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. I wish them well. My own attention, however, has been concentrated on making quota for March before leaving on vacation for 12 days.
Well, mission accomplished. Yesterday I turned in a little deal that put me over the top by a few hundred dollars. I can now leave, knowing that I will still have a job when I return. Whew! 6 years ago

February was my worst sales month ever, immediately following my best month in terms of number of accounts sold. I am nowhere near quota, and neither is anyone else (save our top dawg salesguy). March has got to be stellar. We’re starting a two-month-long sales campaign on Monday. We’ll see if it gets me back on track. No excuse. 6 years ago

I was doing well, I thought, bringing on twice as many new accounts in January as I averaged per month last year. But all of them were small, so the value reached only 62.8% of my first month quota. Not the great start I was hoping for. I ranked third among all sales staff in sales contracted and first in sales booked. I’m working on one potentially big opportunity this month that could put me well above quota for Q1. Time will tell. 6 years ago

Wow. My sales quota for 2007 is up only 9.3% from the 2006 goal. I was expecting 12.5%. That means bonus levels will be easier to reach than I’d expected … a great incentive to get an early start toward the target. But the new quota also represents a need to increase my monthly sales by about 50% from my 2006 actuals, so it will be a stretch. I’m looking forward to the challenge. 6 years ago
