I haven't 3 years ago

taken my tree down yet, but according to redbandita, who created this goal, today is the traditional day to do that. So it seems like a good time to switch back to my old avatar.

I enjoyed this. I’d do it again, but next year’s Xmas tree will probably be much different.

This was fun! 3 years ago

But it’s the 6th of January, and the day when the tree is taken down. Which we did.
So thank you to everybody who shared their trees and maybe see you again next year?

New ornaments 3 years ago

Oh I love them! Traditional wooden fret saw stars and bells with other motives in their middle (for example a tree with a deer, candles, a toy train etc.). We aren’t religious, but I couldn’t resist buying one with a manger scene and another shaped like the star of Bethlehem.
I was also looking out for straw stars, but maybe I’ll make some myself for the next tree?

Abies nordmanniana 3 years ago

The great thing about the Nordmann Fir is that it keeps most of its needles, even though it’s been cut more than three weeks ago and is not standing in a water stand, but has a wooden cross nailed to its bottom.
This means, however, that the branches start drooping and if one is not careful, the most precious bauble will slip off and break on your floor.
It also means that branches which were straight when I attached the electric candles are giving way under the weight and the formerly straight candles are all crooked. A rather saddening sight, it reminds me that the tree has another week and then it’s compost.
Note my new ornaments which I bought in Cologne on 23-12-06.
Of course they’re made of wood. No plastic on MY tree. Well, apart from the candles. Safety first.

and a bonus 3 years ago

E drew a picture at school that I will treasure forever. I had to share it here. It’s a picture of our family (including our 2 cats) decorating our tree.

One last tree pic 3 years ago

Christmas morning, after Santa visited.

This is actually a smaller heap of presents than usual- 2 of my siblings were even later than me in getting gifts sent out.

Our decorating theme... 3 years ago

is “eclectic.” We have an amazing variety of ornaments, dating back to a couple that I had as a child. There are many homemade ones from the kids, and ornaments that we have picked up during our travels. McDonalds toy ornaments, plain old commercial ornaments, and ornaments with outdoor themes that I’ve collected- hiking, skiing, climbing, canoeing… I will guarantee that nobody else in the world has a tree decorated exactly like ours!

:)

I think that this pic will be my final avatar for this goal.

Finally finished 3 years ago

Gee, from the proud look on her face, you would almost think that she actually hung more than a few ornaments…
