Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

wembleyheadsSouthwest Airlines

has started offering service to several Caribbean destinations including Aruba. You can check out their interactive route map.

Be forewarned, that route map has limitations. For instance, it shows that one can fly between Austin and Aruba, but makes it hard to figure out that service doesn’t begin until November 8. At this page page you can see when service will begin from your departure city.

It boils down to frequent flyer points + Aruba taxes = inexpensive honeymoon! 4 months ago

JoshI'm Off!

It’s 4am, and I’ve been awake for about a half hour. I have to leave for the airport in 30 minutes. I’m excited about this trip! I spent all day yesterday packing, gathering my scuba equipment and camera gear, cleaning the house (it always feels good coming home to a clean house after a trip), and making the final preparations for people to take care of my pets while I am away. I’ll be in Aruba, assuming the flights are all on time, around 1:30pm EST. I don’t know how often I will have wifi in Aruba and I’m only taking my iPad, so if I’m not around for the next week, that’s why. I promise to take lots of photos (maybe even some underwater photos if I can rent an underwater camera for a decent price) and I’ll write about my adventures when I return!

This last week has been a bit of a whirlwind. I had a pet die a little over a week ago and I’ve been processing maple syrup on a fairly large scale and starting to get my beehives and such setup for the spring. Plus doing normal life stuff and my obligations at the martial arts school that I attend. I meant to write a blog post, and there are many messages and comments that I haven’t had a chance to reply to yet, and I apologize for that. I hope you all have a wonderful week, and I promise to reply once I get back!9 months ago

JoshI have...

...booked and paid for my room and my flight. Arriving for 7 nights in Aruba starting March 16-23, 2014!

I plan to do some scuba diving, snorkeling, chilling on the beach, eating yummy seafood, and hiking in their national park while I’m there. Time to start brushing up on some basic Dutch. :-) 15 months ago

Eve LingersSo to Aruba I shall go!

My friend has been living in Aruba for about a year now and is soon returning to Holland. I desire to go to Aruba while she is still there, because lets face it: will there ever be a better opportunity to go? 22 months ago

Mwg327Just back from the Island

I have tons of pictures and advise for anyone interested. 7 years ago

...........Theres WAY MUCH BETTER..

If you are looking for a caribbean paradise I can tell you there is waaaaaaay much better islands than this one… for instance you could try jamaica, dominican republic, puerto rico, bahamas, cuba…

I went there with 20 other people and none of us was impressed.. In 3 hours we saw the entire island.. and theres nothing interesting to see there.. the beaches… well .. no comments

But if what you are looking is to go shopping then this is a fine place. 7 years ago

I have been there 4 years in a row and I still
want to go back. I have traveled to many other tropical
places, but this is by far my favorite. The weather is
AMAZING! :) It only rained once for 5 min in all the times
I have visited. 7 years ago

Been there; going back in 3 weeks. My family has a time share there, so every two years we go back for vacation. Aruba? Its a barren island with beaches and smoke-filled casinos. Its a nice place, but I’m a bit bored with it. 8 years ago
