my roommate is going to a zumba class for some kind of study, so i decided to tag along out of curiosity. it was very fun! the teacher was very enthusiastic and i walked out of there feeling very happy. although i cannot afford to go with my roommate to this zumba class, there is a free one offered at school that i may start attending on a regular basis. 8 months ago

It was supposed to be beginners but like all classes that claim to be beginners classes, it ended up being pretty intense with people who weren’t beginners at all. It didn’t help that the people waiting for the next class were watching us towards the end and giggling. It made me feel as if I really need to get in touch with my body and become more physical but I dont think Zumba is for me. It just reminded me of aerobics but with south american music. I didn’t like the location either. It just really hit me on that day how I do not express my physicality and how at ease some women are when it comes to doing this. The difference in how someone feels and carries themselves as a result of this physical confidence is probably very significant. I felt clumsy and insecure. At least the class helped me notice that. I might actually take salsa classes, however (in a different place) to bring out my ‘inner woman’. I think she’s been dormant and ‘in hiding’ for too long. 14 months ago
I got a reply. It looks as if i’m joining a class this weekend!
I need to find the right clothes to wear (i’ve heard baggy is all wrong)! 14 months ago
Because lots of zumba teachers are self employed, I am finding it very difficult to get hold of any of them to get a class booked. I wanted to get this goal done in January and now it’s nearly March. argh! 14 months ago
It was a lot of fun! Though I still feel clumsy and awkward and my knees hurt, I know it will get easier and more fun over time as I loosen up and learn the moves. 16 months ago
It was nice but I didn’t find it that much different from normal aerobics. Liked the music and the teacher though. I worked up a good sweat and think I will go again sometime. 19 months ago

I took my first zumba class after being nagged into it by my best friend who is an instructor….I liked it so much I decided to train to be an instructor myself, having done a ‘teaching exercise to music’ course some years ago. I have since completed my zumba basic training and a speciality training in zumba gold, for the active older person or those who are less able, perhaps have a disability or are in rehabilitation. I taught my first class this week and I loved it!
