Okay so I am chicken-ing out on taking my 7 year old with asthma to another country in the dead of winter. Moving the trip to summer when it will be less rushed and less likely to end up with us trying for 2 weeks to search out an asthma specialist in some tiny Mexican town where I’ll be totally lost. 6 months ago

We have planned this trip for December while the kids are out for Christmas break. Can’t wait to finally get to know hubby’s mom and spending Christmas on the beach and shopping doesn’t sound half bad either. Hope we can finally make this vacation/family reunion happen. 13 months ago

tickets are booked! crazy. still cant believe i achieved both my biggest goals this year – to get a job writing, and to visit mexico. incredible. amazing what can happen when you put your mind to something.
am now just trying to learn as much spanish as possible. my plan is just to cruise, surf a lot and see where the wind blows me. 18 months ago

even though i dont need to have my quarter life crisis anymore, i still feel i need to go to Mexico to release something. to be wild. and maybe pick up a tattoo via Philly, LA or NY on the way back :) i just have that Russia feeling again, but for Mexico this time. looks like ill have 6 weeks at christmas so this may actually happen! cant believe it. 20 months ago

It was fabulous. I highly recommend going with someone who knows the region – having my boyfriend, who’d spent many childhood summers there, was awesome, since we managed to skip a lot of touristy places and get REALLY good food for really great prices.

We went to Playa del Carmen, which is quite beautiful. The road along the coast is very touristy and fun to stroll, but just one block inland you get a whole different experience, which I liked a lot more. 2 years ago
