Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

katr141I started selling for an ind. sales company

I have done this since 2006 and loved every minute of it! I recommend highly selling things you love. It is so much fun! 3 years ago

13ettyMy current aim... to read at least 3 business-related articles every week. I stumbled upon a site today that seems to provide pretty interesting/inspiring information: 3 years ago

13ettyMy Starting Point...

I’ve started working towards this goal by reading stuff here and there about entrepreneurship. I’ve also been asking others about their own experiences as entrepreneurs. So far, it’s been a really good way to see both the positives and negatives of owning/managing one’s own business.

I really hope to find myself a personal mentor along the way as well.

Butchea, please feel free to leave recommendations on any good reads that you may know of or share some of your own experiences. That would be so delightful! 3 years ago

maga2010new year status entry

I have not done a thing about this goal yet. I haven’t come up with any ideas so far. I think this is a goal for further in my future. Right now I am way too busy with my job to even think of starting my own business.
My sister wants us to do this together but she doesn’t have any ideas neither yet. 3 years ago

odetteestelleI now have two businesses!

I have gone into more details about my businesses on my other goals, but I have to say, after dropping out of uni twice, first time for Psychology, second time studying Advertising & Marketing, I’m pretty pleased with myself for conjuring it all up.

In reality, we are all a business, we are tools. It just depends if your savvy enough to make money from it. I haven’t made a great deal of money, but I’ve made profit everytime, things can go pear shaped, but if you don’t stop believing, and don’t listen to all the idiots out there, you can do it!

I was told at school that I was ugly and useless. Now I run a photographic studio, clothing line, and am a model. Took me alot of tears and dedication, but I did it, and so can you! 4 years ago

lee_tothestarsTaking the plunge

I have been planning to start my business for a long time now and i havent pushed it forward. I am comfortable in my current job, have a great social life, have been spoilt by my family in a way and have my fair share of problems aswell.

Today i am making the decision to start the business i have been planning for 2 years. I will stop gambling, put my good brain to work, and do what it takes to get my business started ( including leaving my existing job)

I will keep this posted 4 years ago

awebuserHow I started my own business

I have my own internet advertising agency and it is very rewarding. I am my own boss and I make all the decisions. Generating new business is my favourite part of owning a business. The hardest parts are the finance and taxes but if you get help with this it’s not so bad. It takes long hours and a lot of hard work but if you keep at it you will succeed. You can’t just wait for business to come to you. Get out there and let the world know about the products and services you are offering. 4 years ago

openadonutshopCleaning up

Right now my business is a mess. It’s going… but barely. And its my fault. Neglecting business FTL :(. Sometimes I just don’t feel like doing it though. Sucks, because its my money I’m losing. However, tonight is a good night so far. I am learning alot about myself through this business… how I operate and all. I still got hours upon hours of work, but I am making progress I suppose :). Atleast I’m moving as opposed to before. 5 years ago
