find out what the hell i want to do with my life
You can't blame the economy anymore... 4 months ago

Here it is, 3 years after graduating a average college with a degree in design that I’ve never felt like I was good enough for. Move back to my hometown of Chicago to figure things out and save money by living with parents. Parents are a constant nag as to getting me to find out what the hell I want to do with my life. I have too many interests to pick just one thing; some days I’d like to become a chef. Others include anything from opening a bar, a market/deli, an antique store, or become a shoe cobbler, a metal worker, a teacher. Procrastinators like to find a scapegoat, but I can only point fingers at the economy so much.

What Do I Do? 17 months ago

I’m in high school and all the teachers keep asking me what am i going to do when i leave school? and i dont know what to tell them.

I’m thinking about becoming a photogrpher or something? But I’m good at business but i get bored with it, i dont think i could last in a job where i have to sit at a desk and stuff?

If anyone has done something that you think would be good llet me know

Thanks

What do you want to be when you grow up? 18 months ago

What is with everyone asking that question? Its like:
Person: Whats your name?
Person 2: Bob
Person: I’m Bill. So, what do you want to be when you grow up?

What if I wanted to be a CIA person and I couldn’t tell you? What if I DONT KNOW? Why do people care so much? I don’t have an idea what I want to do. This goal will probably take me several years. I have so many options I’m considering, so many choices. Its too difficult.

i'm only giving up because there are more specific goals on my list that encompass this one 22 months ago

and i think i’ll be better able to get where i want to be if i have something more concrete to strive for (right, ross?) :)

3-5-7 2 years ago

1) in three years, my step-daughter will graduate high school and i will have paid back my employer for my master’s degree (if i stay that long – ugh)

2) in five years, we might have enough equity in the house to make it worthwhile to sell, assuming we want to move, of course

3) in seven years, i’ll be 40 – yikes!

what does all of this mean? it means that i need and want to figure out what i want to be doing and where i want to be at these various milestones.

this might mean going back to school, it might mean moving (including somewhere out of the country), it might not mean much of anything, as long as i am doing something that is fulfilling and meaningful to me within this timeframe.

the most important thing is that i use this time wisely and actually make plans for the next phase of my life, whatever that may be.
