I’m tagging along on my mini sisters America travels to complete this. I may nag the whole time in a sisterly manner but at least she won’t have to drive all the time and I will get to see the White House! 5 years ago
Just got inspired by all the news coverage about Veteran’s Day to visit DC. I’ve only driven through the city, but definitely want to go and see all the museums and other sites. My son is 6 though, so kinda waiting for his attention span to get a little longer before we attempt it. 5 years ago
Washington DC is amazing. I went in eighth grade as a school trip, and I loved it. There is so much history (and an excellent pizza place nearby). I’m a college sophomore now, so it’s been awhile since I’ve been there. I would definitely love to go back, although there are so many other places I want to visit. Maybe I could make it a side trip on my way to somewhere else… Anyway, definitely try and go if you can. Three things you have to see when you go: 1. The Vietnam wall, which was very moving to see the huge wall covered in names of brave soldiers. 2. Arlington cemetery, for the same reason you should see the Vietnam wall. 3. The National Cathedral: It is much larger and amazing than it looks on TV. Whether or not you are religious, it is worth seeing if only for the architectural beauty. 5 years ago
Visiting DC is something everyone should do once. It was not my favorite place that I have been, but the history makes it worth while. 5 years ago
I went once in 8th grade and had a lot of fun, but it was a school trip. I went again this past May with a group of friends to volunteer for a festival and then spend some time there. We had an amazing time. It’s soooo nice there. I can’t wait to go back again this year! 5 years ago
It’s beautiful there, and seeing all the monuments made me feel so patriotic. Lots of good Indian food restaurants, too. 6 years ago
i went in summer ‘06. the washington monument is def worth seeing, also the white house but the thing i most recommend?! the kennedy memorial centre. i have to admit for someone non-american, this seemed a little boring to me when i was told we were goinbg there on the tour but i can safely say other than some views i had in new york, the view on top of that building at sunset was breathtaking, the best view i have ever seen in my life! =) 6 years ago
