Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

whitehartpantsA Mini Adventure

I’m tagging along on my mini sisters America travels to complete this. I may nag the whole time in a sisterly manner but at least she won’t have to drive all the time and I will get to see the White House! 6 years ago

Just got inspired by all the news coverage about Veteran’s Day to visit DC. I’ve only driven through the city, but definitely want to go and see all the museums and other sites. My son is 6 though, so kinda waiting for his attention span to get a little longer before we attempt it. 7 years ago

x3adGood Once

Visiting DC is something everyone should do once. It was not my favorite place that I have been, but the history makes it worth while. 7 years ago

meandlyrRmymotivSo much fun :-)

I went once in 8th grade and had a lot of fun, but it was a school trip. I went again this past May with a group of friends to volunteer for a festival and then spend some time there. We had an amazing time. It’s soooo nice there. I can’t wait to go back again this year! 7 years ago

kpriddySo happy I finally did this!

It’s beautiful there, and seeing all the monuments made me feel so patriotic. Lots of good Indian food restaurants, too. 7 years ago

eclectic passioni recommend!!

i went in summer ‘06. the washington monument is def worth seeing, also the white house but the thing i most recommend?! the kennedy memorial centre. i have to admit for someone non-american, this seemed a little boring to me when i was told we were goinbg there on the tour but i can safely say other than some views i had in new york, the view on top of that building at sunset was breathtaking, the best view i have ever seen in my life! =) 7 years ago

...........I was amazed

This place is great specially if u are interested in knowing about US history, architecture and museums.
Theres something about this place that makes its atmosphere so sophisticated… I’d love to visit again … 7 years ago

yankeevtTell the President How I Feel

I’d like to visit DC and let the President know exactly how I feel about his actions. (Everybody needs to have lofty goals and this is mine.) He’s obviously not listening to the voters. If I ever make it to DC I’d like to visit the Mint and see the war memorials. 7 years ago
