reorganize my life (read all 2 entries…)
Upgrade: 2 years ago

I’ve completely re-organized my room. Now I have four drawers in one of my dressers free, which is amazing, considering I had to pack everything in before.

But now I’m getting a new room. I’m not moving, just switching rooms, and getting a walk-in closet (finally!). This way I can get rid of 2 dressers I don’t need… or put them in storage for future use.

The very best thing about this is that I get to do what I want to it. I’m thinking strip the ugly blue wallpaper off of the walls, paint them, strip the floors (possibly… this would be by myself, of course—an insane amount of work), and possibly buy and stain the furniture I’m going to try getting. It’s going to take my money, but it’s my first official interior design project. Hopefully it turns out like I want it to. I’m still in the early stages of planning the design layout though. : )

First off, my room. 2 years ago

My representation of myself… but in room decor!!! (This is my room at home, btw, since I’m on hiatus from Pittsburgh/apartment life) So I’ve got 3 dressers, 2 storage thingies with see-through drawers (the cheapo ones all kids take to school, including this one), a nightstand, a storage ottoman(?), a bench for storage (upholstered in my silly wallpaper, just to mention), 3 hat boxes and block shelves (elementarily labeled A, B, C and D). Sounds like a lot of storage, right?

Not enough for me! All 3 dressers + my closet are stuffed with clothes. I wear about 1/4 of them. But the thing about me is that one day, I’ll feel a certain shirt would look super-ridiculous… or something would be wrong with it that I didn’t want to wear it. The next day, I think it looks a lot better, so I’ll wear it at random and like it that way. This tendency makes it harder to take certain things up to the attic for now.

I’ve got overbearing amounts of things.

Today, I found a rain jacket in drawer #5 on dresser 1. I won’t put it in the attic because I might need it.

I also found a suede brown jacket in the same drawer. (What is it with me and jackets in drawers? Ah yes! Its my puny closet with only enough room to hang nightmare dresses) I haven’t worn it since grade 8, but think it’s cute, even though its completely worn and I’d probably refuse to wear it in public. Right now, they’re both back in the dresser drawers because I can’t decide whether they’re worth a trip to the attic (which means I’ll never see them again)

Otherwise, I’m thinking like a true designer! I have really high ceilings. Putting posters up high just doesn’t do the trick. I’m not 12 anymore. I’m thinking shelves. This will equivalate the space of highs and lows, instead of letting gravity make things increasingly boring.

With a low budget, I was able to purchase a 5ft-long plain shelf from Target for $13 on clearance (since it’s not dormery season). Here’s the awesome part:

I got out the power tools and installed it myself (seriously, who’s the man?)

This will make room on my book shelf (which rests on elongated dresser #1) and I can put my silly knick-knacks (purchased from antique stores) on display. Maybe one day I’ll even find storage for my VHS tapes :gasp!:

I will post pictures of the finished product, but currently, posting photos would require a transfer USB which will be possible after a trip to Best Buy.. soon.

Productive week... 3 years ago

is doing not-so-good, not-so-bad. This is also the be-nice-to-your-children week, the eat-sensibly week, and the clean-your-appartment-and-keep-it-clean week. So far I’m giving myself 6 or 7 on productivity, 8 on diet, 8 on being nice to my kids (a big improvement) and a big 9! on keeping my house clean. I totally cleaned it and I’m keeping it clean. Today I accidentally locked myself outside (long irrelevant story to do with the fact that it rained, that the fields were covered in ankle-deep mud, that I tie my house keys to my shoe-lace when I run and that I am a very stupid soos), and I had to order a locksmith; I was absolutely not ashamed to show him in! Wow!

Next week's entries: 3 years ago

This weekend I’m going to do my homework, and draw more skirts. Maybe knit a little.
Workout – continue working on my running speed, continue doint sit-ups.
Diet – reduce amout of fruits and musley-carrot cookies consumed. Musley-carrot cookies – home made – are the only kind of cookies I’m allowed to eat. I consider them health food, they are low fat, but not in the least non-fattening. I will not stop eating them, but I should limit myself a bit. And I should eat more vegatables and less fruits.
Work – I will go and buy materials. It’s not an easy step for me: I need to find a shop that I trust, that I will manage to convince that I do indeed have a business, and that will not put me down.
Home – since I failed to last week, this week will be mission week.
And car.
And car.

1. Running – continue working on increased speed.2. Start doing sit-ups after running again.3. Notify change of address – to credit company and to Amutat Hashkamah.
4. Start doing flylady-style missions once a day again. – I suck.
5. Start getting into routine for work! (more or less)
6. Stop eating things that I shouldn’t be eating (mainly cakes and such). Next week I plan to address the amounts (plenty) and timing (late night). (I did well, with the exceptino of today` I simply forgot, I swear!)

I'm in a planning mood. 3 years ago

Because that horrible vacation is over and I want to get back on track and then move on. This week is still part-time, because my daughter has an adjustment week.
This week: I’ve started running again. I’m working on increasing my running speed. I’ve started working, very little so far. I’ve cleaned my apartment and I keep it clean. I’m cleaning my car.
Next week: running; increasing speed; I’ll stop eating things I don’t think I should be eating. I’ll set a work routine and start taking lessons again. I’ll start doing flylady-style missions around the house again to keep improving it. I’ll take my car to be washed and then to the garage.
Week after: running; increasing speed; working; keeping clean and doing missions; not eathing junk; I’ll stop eating at night unless I’m really hungry.

I'm improving. 3 years ago

My house is clean. Yeserday I cleaned it after the vacation. It’s more-or-less organised. My organised friend came to visit and said she was impressed.
My finances are under control, I check on my account regularly, I make sure everything is in order, and that I don’t exceed my credit. I also save some money. Since I have no income now, except child support, it’s very important.
I’ve cleaned about a quarter of my car. That’s a progress.
I’m slowly getteing there, fifteen minutes at a time. I’m going to do a little car cleaning now!

So I am going to take inventory on the things I like about myself, and the things that NEED to change now! I am going to work on the top three things, then once those are done fix the rest of them.
First step, being able to be on my own.—Keeping myself busy with things that make mee happy and that are not self destructive.

New list. 4 years ago

I looked at the original list and oow, I have to set up that “follow me” postal service quickly!
1. The “follow me” service (Sunday).
2. Find a new job, becasue I will not get the one I though I would. Start with updating my CV.
3. Notify the ministry of internal affairs of my new address and the fact that I’m divorced (yes, for some 9 months now, lazy me).
4. Do something with the money from the appartment.
