So I managed last time to do the following:
0.25 @ 5.1 MPH
0.25 @ 5.2 MPH
0.25 @ 5.3 MPH
0.25 @ 5.4 MPH
0.25 @ 5.5 MPH
0.25 @ 5.6 MPH
0.25 @ 5.7 MPH
0.25 @ 5.8 MPH
0.25 @ 5.9 MPH
That’s more time spent running than jogging!

So I ran a total of one miles today and my total distance was two miles!
So I’ve been trying the couch to 5k and it hasn’t really been working for me. Now I’m doing my own thing to get there. I don’t consider it to be running unless it’s over 5.5 mph and anything below that is jogging for me. But I can jog at least a mile no problem, I just need to build up my speed and endurance. So now what I’m trying to do is at least try to increase the length of my jog by a quarter of a mile per job, and jog at least twice a week. Today what I did was increase my speed by 0.1mph per quarter mile and started my jog at 5.1mph. My total distance was 1 1/2 miles so…
.25 @ 5.1 MPH
.25 @ 5.2 MPH
.25 @ 5.3 MPH
.25 @ 5.4 MPH
.25 @ 5.5 MPH
.25 @ 5.6 MPH
I ran a total of 1/2 a mile today! I’m so proud. Moving up though!
So my friend and I recently started the couch to 5k running plan and I’m on week two right now. I’m really loving this program and my endurance is building pretty quickly. I know I’ll be able to get this done by the end of the year so I’ll be updating regularly

Today it occurred to me as I went out for my usual three to three and a half mile run that I ought to give five miles a shot. Goal reached.

I can do four, but generally I’m pretty tired out after three. I also feel like I have to take the last mile a lot slower than the first two-three. Does anybody have any advice on how to improve my endurance/speed?

Worked my way back up from two miles to four miles after an eight week respite (otherwise known as winter.) It hurt like hell to do the four mile run, so I’m dialing back a little this week. I plan to hit five consistently by June.
This week at the gym I managed to walk five miles at 4.2 mph. My goal is to increase by 0.1 mph per week until I get to 7.0 but one I reach 5.0 I will consider my goal accomplished.
