to recycle, in most cases, are the most potentially harmful to the environment. CFLs contain mercury, but often end up in landfills when people don’t know what else to do with them, as do household batteries, print cartridges and so on.
I’ve found online that some retailers (try Lowe’s & Home Depot to start) will accept these items for recycling, but they certainly don’t advertise it. 6 days ago

is adopting a Zero Waste to Landfill initiative. I’m glad because I’ve always wanted to do a better job at recycling, and now there is lots of info available at work and multicolored tubs have replaced our trashcans. I’m not going to be the person who doesn’t know what goes where. 1 week ago

I finally got rid of the two beds and recliner in my garage. Technically, this is not recycling them but it is nice to get some extra room for the vehicles.

Because the fridge no longer works we did not feel right calling the electric company and selling it for $40. We gave it to Lowe’s when they brought us our new freezer.

more cardboard in to the recycling plant this week. I forgot to take a look at their metal recycling bin to see if any of my metal can get dumped in there.

I had the wood from my old waterbed in my garage because I hoped to make shelving out of it. My father-in-law suggested I place it in the rafters of the garage and store the summer items up there. Great idea. The toys I trip on all winter are safely stored up high.

I recycled the anti-freeze that’s been sitting in my garage for a couple of years. It was quite easy to do, I just called up the hazardous waste and got a time to dump it. There were four people apparently doing nothing, so I’m not sure why I needed to set up an appointment.

I returned another batch of bottles.

I found a place that will dispose of the propane tanks for only $3 each. They will also take my daughter’s bed for $20.

I now have even more metal to get rid of since I now have the old garage door opener (with runner).

My garage is starting to look good. I hung up the bikes on the joists. I also hung up some lawn chairs to the walls. 6 months ago

I returned two trunk fulls of beer pop bottles, and I have one more trip to go. I also have a pile of cardboard to get rid of. I need to get the basement clean so that my father-in-law can install a new garage door opener. Ours has been broken for a couple of years now. My wife wants the new vehicle stored safely away. 7 months ago

I throw it all in a blue bag, then a blue bin I don’t even have to seperate anything. 14 months ago

This has become so automatic for me that I am “done”. I will continue to collect my recyclables and go to the recycling bin when I need to go. 14 months ago

I’ve finally moved to a place with a recycling program. Between that and the bins at school, I recycle fairly often. 16 months ago
