I own over 600 books (maybe 700 by now) and have only read about 50 of them in my life.
I started fresh, put the count down to 0, and I’m now organizing my books as I’m a third of the way through The Ultimate Hitchhiker’s Guide TO The Galaxy.
I’ll keep you guys updated as time goes on. 19 months ago

I keep buying more books! Must stop!
Also, I have decided to try and sell my unwanted books – the ones I read and thought were a bit pants, or just couldn’t get into – online. That way, I am leaving my bookshelf uncluttered and only showing off the cream of the crop and the ones that I actually WANT to read, rather than the ones I feel I should. 2 years ago

Every time I’m in a bookshop, I get this overwhelming urge to pick up the first book I see, snuggle into a corner and rip thru the whole thing until I’ve read every book in the shop. All those uncreased pages! All that escapism! All those potential new lands, and that new knowledge! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!
I have to be very firm with myself and make myself go home and attempt the same at my own bookcase. I have enough books after all! Somehow it’s never the same, and when I get home there are too many distractions – the tv, my boyfriend, the housework etc.
Maybe I need to decorate my house just like Waterstones, and the urge to devour books might come back? 2 years ago

I have over 200 books on my shelves at home. I love it! If I could, I’d LIVE in a book shop…one of those really warm and cosy ones with big squashy sofas and a coffee shop upstairs, where the staff don’t bug you with innane “Are you alright there?”’s and “Can I help?”’s (No! I’ll ASK if I need a hand…).
Thing is, with work and housework and friends and boyfriend and tv (there is some awesome stuff recorded on my box that I need to get round to watching!) and LIFE…I just don’t always have the time, or the concentration span, for reading regularly. And I have a tendancy to buy faster than I read :/
Must must MUST set aside AT LEAST half an hour every day…or every other day…to READ! 2 years ago

I have SO many books I haven’t read yet, and ones that are partially read. I need to make some time to read through them, otherwise they’ll have been a waste of money. Right now I have one unpacked that I’ll try to finish, then when we move I’ll start tackling the others. 3 years ago

I use to love to read. As a mattern of fact, my love of books turned my eldest daughter into a wormbook. In her early years, i was a great example to her. Now, as soon as i start reading, sleep overcomes me and i give into it without a fight. I used to be able to read for hours and now i can’t read for 10 minutes straight. What’s wrong with me? I’m working on my bachelors and i’m sooo scared that this will interfere with my progress in college. It’s not that i don’t have time to read. It’s more like, reading has become a chore. I don’t find it exciting, the way i used to. I can’t seem to focus the way i use to and i’m only 33 years old…is this going to get worse as i age? 4 years ago

I am so ridiculously lazy. But I don’t want to be. I love reading; but I also love collecting books and arranging them nicely on my shelves. This is stupid and my method is to leave them all over my bedroom floor until I read each and every one of them.
When one is read, it can return to its cosy home on the shelf. This ought to work, as I’m a bit obsessive compulsive when it comes to tidiness.. 4 years ago
