Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

MereA year ago,

I was struggling. Actually until two months ago, I was. What changed? I got a fairly decent job; I woke up one day and said to myself- “I am a Single Mum! Deal with it!!”

Not as simple as that.. I realised that if I did not get in shape, I was reducing my chances of being around for my daughter. What a wake up call that was.

I now play badminton at least thrice a week. How do I do that? I spend double the money I used to on child care. I can ill afford it, but hey I really do have to do this. My bouts of self pity and loneliness were increasing. It has definitely taken a back seat since I started playing.

I don’t think I am ready to sign of on this goal as yet…. 4 years ago

greensmileyfaceAm I lazy or am I just more into "me" time

I have recently figured out that one of the resons I have trouble getting things done, doing them on time, and having enough time to do them is because I spend too much me time. obviously I must be on the other side of the scale as people who want to do this, so I am not saying that having more “me time” is something you shouldn’t do. But what I am saying is don’t get too addicted, you can get lost in the me time. all that time you spend not having me time can also be valuable, and helps you stay on track and balanced. I guess the best thing to do is be kinda ZEN and have time when you are working and doing things you need to do also be a time when you can reflect and think, like meditative work. 4 years ago

MereThis thought has been going round and round in my head..

“What about your time?”

Single parenting is tough. Hats off to the women who are single parents, work and raise happy children and find time for themselves, for things like health.

Once upon a time, I thought it would be easy. This is reality. I am posting here at 11.00 in the night about time for myself.

I wake up at 6.30, get daughter ready, drop of her at playschool, go to work, come back at 5.45, take her out for a walk,, play with her and she finally sleeps at 9.30. In between her need for attention, I get the house organised, try and sort my financial stuff. I sleep on an average at 12.00, getting in half hour of reading a magazine.

I would love to have an hour and a half to get back to shape. My physical fitness level is awful. I used to be sooo fit..( sigh). The only way I see this happening is a) I get wealthy b) A good maid comes my way, so that I don’t have to spend time in the evening catching up on household stuff or c) the lady who live next door comes through and gets a girl from up north to come and be a live-in help for me. Chance are bleak that any of the three will happen. If there are any prices for wishing and praying, I will probably get it.

One tired momma here! 5 years ago

onebaygirlIt's not ideal, but I've had more me time.

I’ve been able to get more me time in by focusing on the positive and what’s important to me. Sometimes it’s lonesome, sometimes rewarding. Some of it involves other people, some involves just me. It all boils down focusing on what’s important and squeezing in time for it. Sometimes fitting it in feels like a strict, regimented schedule, but to me it’s better than not fitting it in. It’s all a balancing act. Life is busy, and the business deserves to be rewarded. 6 years ago

I want to have more personal time for watching movies, playing games, and such. This will have to be accomplished by getting homework done earlier. 6 years ago
