Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

plumcheeksFull Bath

I’ve been fighting with the walls of my bathroom for the past month.

In prepping the walls, I took off the wall plates and the paint started to peel. Two hours later…see the photo. I went to Home Depot and they said to sand the walls to ensure that the primer would stick to them better. I also spackled where I had stopped peeling. When it dried I sanded it but I didn’t do the greatest job…so that wall doesn’t look so good now. :\

I’m almost done. I have to cut in around the toilet…that’s gonna be fun, NOT. Then I need to paint the vanity. I’ll post another picture when it’s complete. 5 years ago

plumcheeksgot an itch, need to scratch with a paint brush

I have so much more to paint. I was going to wait until Fall but I don’t think I can wait that long.

Things to Paint:
-Bedroom Closets (Especially the walk-in. I’m thinking I want to do something unexpected in there.)
-Second Bedroom
-Full Bath (I can’t stand looking at the dark pink anymore but it’s going to be such a pain to paint it.)
-Kitchen Cabinets
-Trim (everywhere)
-Ceilings (everywhere)

I’m buying a condo, just closed on it yesterday, It’s going to take 75 days to close, so in the meantime, I want to think of ideas to fix my new condo up! 6 years ago

plumcheeksbedroom finally done

I just got done painting the bedroom. It only took me three weekends. I can finally get the ladder out of the bedroom and put it back in the garage. I’m tired of painting but I still have two more rooms and touchups in the kitchen and upstairs hallway to do. Then, eventually I need to do the kitchen cabinets, all the white trim everywhere, the part of the finished basement and maybe even the ceilings. ACK!!!! Well, I will be an expert painter after all is done and my condo will look good!

To see more pics go here.

I’ve been moving furniture around too. I put my recliner that was in my office into my bedroom. Eventually I’m going to buy a smaller chair for the bedroom so the big old ugly recliner will have to work for now. 6 years ago

I took off two days to paint my bedroom and I’m nowhere near finished!

Friday I decided to go shopping first. I was at World Market forever. They are closing most of their Michigan stores and everything was 10% to 30% off. I went crazy and bought a ton of good stuff for the condo (art, candles & holders, chair cushions, etc). Then I made the mistake of going to the mall and was there for way too long and spent too much money at NY&Co. When I finally got home at 1:30pm I got to work on the bedroom. I washed the walls, got the wallpaper border paste off. Had to let that dry so I didn’t do anything else.

Saturday I had to put primer on the dark pink that was on the bottom (less than) half of the walls. It took me about 6 hours (see photo). I also put one coat of brown on the bedroom door. The previous owner painted the three doors in the bedroom white…but just white on the side facing in to the bedroom. Oh, and they also painted the hinges white so I had to buy new ones.

Sunday I had to run to Home Depot to buy more painting supplies. Then I painted one big wall blue…it took me 5 hours. After that I had to get ready to go to the Foo Fighters concert.

Monday I was exhausted! I managed to put two coats of brown on all three doors though…and I did laundry!

So I still have three more walls to paint blue and I want to put a brown stripe on each wall. UGHHH! It’s going to take me forever! 6 years ago

plumcheekswindow treatments

I’ve been looking everywhere online and I can’t find any information on how to hang a valance with curtains. I’m assuming I should just buy two rods and layer. ???? Directions would be nice though. If anyone has a site to send me to, that would be great. :) 6 years ago

Bedroom ceiling fan:
From old & ugly to new & shiny! 6 years ago

I helped install my new thermostat today. It’s so cool! It’s a touch screen and it’s programmable for every morning, day, evening & night. It also allows you to set a reminder to change your air filter.

I’ve also been painting. I have one more coat to put on then I’ll take pictures. I tell ya, this is the last time I paint anything dark red…it’s really a pain to work with. 7 years ago

My mom told me to go out and buy a new dishwasher for my birthday/xmas present. I got a white Maytag, nothing fancy. It ended up leaking though. One of the fasteners for the heating element was completely loose and the water was coming out from there. We ended up having to pull it out and unhook it to get to it…so bascially we installed the dishwasher twice. :\ BUT we’re still not done yet. The copper pipe/water feed won’t stop dripping now so we’re going to change it to a flexible pipe. Hopefully I’ll have a working dishwasher by tonight. 7 years ago

Bought a rug for under the dining room table. Not sure if I like it though. I got it online from and it looked better in the picture on their site (of course). Up close it looks kinda cheap. It has little specks of blue in it, which did not show in the picture online (I don’t want blue). Also, it has alot more brown in it than the picture online showed. Maybe under the table it will look different and you won’t be able to see the blue specks.

And of course, Monti had to lay all over it as soon as I rolled it out on the floor. lol! 7 years ago
