Go to bat for the "Helpless" people in the "Neighborhood Watch"

I’ve read a few posts hither and thither suggesting the NW folks are big stinky judgers, and I just wanted to shake that off a bit.

I started putting in Neighborhood Watch time after several people defended me when I came up on the chopping block (a couple of times I gather – thank-you!), and I stayed on, both to defend other genuine users and to help clean up some of the garbage on the site (spam, scams, ads, hackers, crackers, racism, etc.) but I prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt unless it’s a blatent violation of the site terms. If you want to be a werewolf… power to you. I did vote the nasty boner guy down though. Ew.

I understand the concern – I have seen comments & votes that I’d debate, but that’s why the more people that spend a few minutes weeding and defending the better. You really have to look carefully sometimes.

The extra cheers are a nice touch too. I like cheering on the unjustly accused. I might also wear a long, tightly curled white wig while I’m doing it, but I’ll never say. (whacking gavel down hard)

In the past week the few times I checked neighborhood watch I found only people who clearly did not belong on trial and defended them. I also reported one person who posted a nude picture a month ago on an account that only had sex goals. Seems backwards don’t you think?

This long time user and sweet gal was turned in for this entry written over 2 months ago!!!!! How is this “Spam”? Why is she targeted 2 months after she wrote the entry? Wow, if this can happen to her, it could happen to anyone. I think everyone should participate in the NW.

I will continue to do this. I just really want to minimize this list I have growing.

& i plan to continue doing it, but i feel like i need to free up some space on my list of goals.

Someone is going through and flagging everyone who has the goal of “make games”, saying that they’re fake accounts or spamming, and most of them don’t even have any entries posted! I don’t understand. How does this person know that these are all fake accounts? What reasoning is there to close these accounts? If you’re the person doing this, perhaps you can explain it to me.

Meanwhile, I’m busy defending them.

and found a bunch of “password” finders, some handbag peddlers and some mortgage ads. Didn’t see many “real” users.
