judkinsWorking on something
My brother is getting married. The day before his wedding, they are going to have this party called a Sangeet. Basically, it is a night of music, performances by friends and family (and anyone in the wedding) as a celebration.
We were asked to sign up. I figure I’m going to play a number of times as drummer for a few combinations, trios or something. So I figured I’d also sign up for a guitar piece. Although it’s not my forte, I thought if I volunteered to go first it wouldn’t be too obvious how much I suck! That’s the plan, anyway.
What I want to do is to play one of my brother’s songs. He’d shown me the chords a long time ago, and it was distressingly similar to a song I had written. So I remembered it. I listened to a recording he had sent me a few years ago, and wrote out the words. So every day I will practice this song, at least once, and by next June I should be able to play it pretty well (plus I should be able to memorize the lyrics if I practice them every day).
This particular goal (practice guitar in 2008) will be met by year end, and in the home stretch this new reason for playing should hold me to it. 4 years ago
