Fourth week  — 5 days ago

1) Get a tattoo ~ went to a shop today to check out their work, there was one artist I like the work of a lot, maybe I’ll get it done there but first I’ll check out some more shops (and check if I’m getting preggers in the mean time)
2) Get a Brazilian wax ~ not yet but I will
3) Find a travel mascot ~ haven’t been anywhere yet
4) Have a mascot travel the world for me ~ little lion is still with Takergirl, I think, although I haven’t heard from her much lately – oh dear… ;)
5) Learn how to play guitar ~ no progress
6) Change my diet ~ changes made mostly because of the warm weather and I am eating less ‘bad’ food because my guy is dieting
7) Find a way to stop caring so much about not having kids ~ this is for emergencies such as when the occasion actually arises
8) Find my passion ~ oh what a good idea
9) Do my administration properly ~ hahahahaaaa! (again)
10) Declutter my house ~ no progress
11) Enjoy my job again ~ job? what job? okay, I have a job but it doesn’t feel mine right now – whatever
12) Book my summer vacation ~ will do!
13) Eat more organic ~ this is still on even if I know that I won’t so I’m taking it off
14) Have different life next year ~ nothing to say
15) Start a novel ~ myeh, long term goal
16) spend time with nephews and nieces ~ just got back from holiday, will see them soon again
17) Do more yoga ~ bought a dvd, will do!
18) Do more with friends ~ getting better when I’m not totally depressed (surprised!)
19) drop, launch, push gummy bears from high places ~ no progress

24) Sell stuff on the internet ~ nah, no progress, I’m taking this off the list
25) Keep a journal ~ this was the biggest ‘journal week’ so far with seven entries in a row about the past two or so years
26) Try magic mushrooms ~ this doesn’t go so well with trying to get pregnant
27) Finish a book ~ some time ago I went through books like a buzzsaw but now I just can’t seem to focus, this is bad!
28) Host creature ~ no, no nothing

31) Send 20 cards with postcrossing ~ one more out the door today, to Japan!
32) Take a road trip to Graceland ~ long-term goal
33) Complete ‘wreck this journal’ ~ progress made: page coloured! (I’ll post a pic)
34) Help Jack with current events ~ posting now and then
35) Finish this article ~ myeh, I’ll probably get it done on time
36) Take random pictures and post them as requested ~ nobody answers to my request :(
37) Wish Takergirl a good birthday with animal avatars ~ ay I should change my avatar but I like it!
38) List 43 men I wouldn’t kick outta bed ~ no progress, I’m not sure I will make it to 43
39) Have a flat tummy ~ nope
40) Find one thing each day that makes me happy ~ found something every day

Third week: overhaul  — 1 week ago

This week I did a bit of an overhaul on the goals list, to keep my mind focused. The list is therefore a little different now.

1) Get a tattoo ~ nope, but I’m getting clearer on what I would like and where
2) Get a Brazilian wax ~ nope, I did have an appointment but I had to change it, and now I don’t think the date I planned is very good either
3) Find a travel mascot ~ haven’t been anywhere yet
4) Have a mascot travel the world for me ~ I understand from Takergirl’s pictures that he’s having a smashing great time
5) Learn how to play guitar ~ not getting anywhere with this but keeping it on the list!!!
6) Change my diet ~ my man is doing his best to lose weight so I’m dragged along
7) Find a way to stop caring so much about not having kids ~ the misery is subsiding a little, it has to because I need to go on with life, universe and everything, but not to the point where I know it is gone forever
8) Find my passion ~ ah…
9) Do my administration properly ~ hahahahaaaa!
10) Declutter my house ~ slow slow slow
11) Enjoy my job again ~ nope, my boss is on holiday, my colleague is extremely busy and I am constantly wondering what the fuck?
12) Book my summer vacation ~ we’re looking at Madeira, tips are welcome
13) Eat more organic ~ I’m considering taking this off the list because it is just not practically doable when you work so much and the organic shops in the city close early, but I’m not sure because I really like it
14) Have different life next year ~ nothing to say
15) Run ~ ahahahahahaaa! I was invited to join the team on here to run 100 days but it turned out to have to be 100 days IN A ROW and I know I just can’t do that so I dropped out again, helás
16) Start a novel ~ I’m finding it hard to start a story but on the other hand I am also getting more and more used to taking notes and considering texts (other than for work) so that’s a good thing. I still think this is something that will somehow take off or something, I am certainly not frustrated if it doesn’t happen though so that’s alright
17) spend time with nephews and nieces ~ they’ll be back from holiday next week
18) Do more yoga ~ no no no nothing this week (again)
19) Do more with friends ~ yes and no, one friend I went dining and wining with last week which was really good, two friends will be back in town next week and said they would call me
20) drop, launch, push gummy bears from high places ~ 6 down, 37 to go (progress: 1 bear)
21) Read the selfish gene ~ nope
22) Go to more concerts ~ circumstances are conspiring against me!
23) Read more ~ nope
24) Be the change I want to see in the world ~ reminder
25) Sell stuff on the internet ~ hopeless, maybe I should just give it up but I like the idea of having an e-store, just a little daydream
26) Keep a journal ~ this is going okay, it’s good to have a place for that that has a (small) audience which means that I need to consider a bit more what I will write and how than if I were to do it just for me
27) Try magic mushrooms ~ not yet but I want to
28) Finish a book ~ I find it hard to concentrate in general now which makes this harder, but I also have some trouble with the English terms in the book (not a native speaker…)
29) Host creature ~ MamaBear said she would send me her little animal, I think
30) Review goals weekly ~ this is it, I realise that this is a good way to keep track of my progress on goals because it moves up the list, haha!
31) Conceive children through ivf ~ no progress (well, no attempt so…)
32) Send 20 cards with postcrossing ~ 8 now with completed journeys

36) Help Jack with current events ~ this is fun and interesting to see what others are posting, although I am not sure I will keep it up for very long because I need to translate all the Dutch news and that takes a long time sometimes
37) Give 1000 cheers ~ haha! I had reached 1013 without noticing! that means this one is reached!
38) Finish this article ~ progress is being made
39) Take random pictures and post them as requested ~ posted a picture of my fridge which feels kinda weird
40) Wish Takergirl a good birthday with animal avatars ~ do I find an animal tangerine or do I stick with the current bunny-with-chainsaw?
41) List 43 men I wouldn’t kick outta bed ~ one goal I though I would never adopt but then I thought it would be a nice exercise, and now I find I can mostly come up with fictional characters, haha!
42) Have a flat tummy ~ new so no progress, but we went mountainbiking for hours today which is sure to help right?

Second week  — 2 weeks ago

1) get a brazilian wax – made an appointment but then rescheduled again because this is not the right time, technically
2) get a tattoo – same: will do this after I’ve been pregnant or when it is absolutely certain that I will not become so
3) make as many of my own meals as possible – terrible, terrible, I made nasi the other day and my hubby didn’t like it, blah
4) take a photo every day – the camera comes with me wherever I go
5) post random questions… etc. – still okay with that although mainly answering, I’d consider marking it ‘done’ but I like to get back there, it’s for playing after all, right?
6) find a mascot to photograph… – we’re considering vacation plans so that mascot will come along!
7) have a mascot travel the world for me… – the little lion hasn’t arrived at Takergirl’s yet, he already has two more hosts waiting in the wings!
8) learn how to play guitar – not working at all, must do because I like it!
9) change my diet – weighed myself and gained almost 2 kilos in 40 days so this must change!
10) find a way to stop caring so much about not having kids – this was a crappy week for that, let’s leave it at that
11) find my passion – gone, gone, gone
12) buy a tagine and learn to use it well – haven’t used it this week, gotta find new good recipes
13) do my administration properly – ahahaha! still failing
14) declutter my house – forgot to take out the big trash on Tuesday, stupid
15) enjoy my job again – myeh, maybe
16) book my summer vacation – we’re gonna take a short trip now and a longer one in the autumn
17) eat more organic – no progress

21) spend more time with my nieces and nephews – still abroad or on vacation so no fun for me

30) keep a journal – okay, not daily but when inspiration strikes or I just need to vent

33) finish a book – since I don’t find it that fascinating it is taking more effort than I thought, suddenly staring and taking notes is a lot more interesting

Starting this week  — 3 weeks ago

1) get a brazilian wax – not while I go to the gyn regularly, I’d be embarrassed
2) get a tattoo – will do this after I’ve been pregnant or when it is absolutely certain that I will not become so
3) make as many of my own meals as possible – hah. not succeeding, still really want to do this
4) take a photo every day – I’m getting better at this, I always carry the camera around with me now. today I posted a picture I took this week of the fabulous dutch low sky
5) post random questions… etc. – one I come back to when I need diversion. will consider this done at 100 questions, although I am mainly answering now. it is a good place to make ‘friends’ and find out things about people, and to have fun
6) find a mascot to photograph… – actually, I have the mascot, I just need to travel and take pictures of him. I have a few related goals on this subject, maybe cluster them together or something
7) have a mascot travel the world for me… – the little lion is on its way to Takergirl in the US!
8) learn how to play guitar – I need to practice more, I want to
9) change my diet – again, really want to. and need to, I am expanding a bit
10) find a way to stop caring so much about not having kids – failing utterly and completely but as the final finish draws nearer there will be little left for me but to complete this goal somehow
11) find my passion – it is in writing somehow but I’m not sure yet
12) buy a tagine and learn to use it well – cooked with the wonderful tagine twice and both were okay but not huge successes so I will keep this up a little longer. I must add the second time to the entry list though
13) do my administration properly – ahahaha! failing
14) declutter my house – verrrry slooowly
15) enjoy my job again – no progress, unfortunately
16) discover new music – actually I think this is accomplished since I discover new things (for me anyway) regularly. so must mark it done!
17) book my summer vacation – yeah, need to do this, if only to have something to look forward to
18) develop a cleaning routine and keep my house clean – we had an even better plan: hire someone to do it for us! we will, soon. so I’m giving up on this one
19) eat more organic – I’d love to but there are practical problems. with my job I come home late and don’t have time to shop at organic places so only once a week and organic food doesn’t keep that well (no preservatives, right?) so must find solution there
20) have different life next year – no comments yet
21) run – would love to but weather is dreadful. will do, though
22) start a novel – I’m getting into the writing routine. have a feeling this will come
23) spend more time with my nieces and nephews – one part lives in the US (I don’t) and one part is leaving for vacation tonight, so no progress expected anytime soon

25) do more with friends – not working yet, this takes a lot more energy than you’d think. this makes me miserable

The week that was...and plans for next week and beyond...  — 4 months ago

have people over: I made this into a new challenge goal with a new deadline this week, because the meeting at my house was re-scheduled from April to May. Part of accomplishing this is doing my Flylady missions next week.

track all expenses each day of March I still would like to do this. Have a stack of receipts and bills to work from.

track all expenses each day of February Ditto.

Each morning write down 3 goals for Today: I managed to do this Tuesday through Friday. All during April I’m planning to focus on practicing my 2 new daily habits of (1) opening the mail, and (2) tracking expenses for April.

Have a place for everything and keep everything in its place: This is a new goal as of this week. I found a place for my mail this week. Keep putting my mail in it’s place every day next week.

Clear the Deck: The decks on my kitchen counter and on my office floor are starting to look a little clearer. Maybe all these babysteps are starting to add up.

Keep on paying my bills on time: I’ve got my current bills all together at the start of this month. I want to pay all my bills in the coming week. I’m also working on a monthly checklist to put into my flylady control journal to remind me to pay all my bills each month.

Do the Flylady daily missions: I really want to work on this in the coming week.

keep in touch with family: My mother’s birthday is this week. I need to work on this in the coming week.

Daily: Reflect on 5 things for which I’m grateful Made entries on Sun., Mon., Wed., Thur., and Sat. in the past week. That feels pretty good.

practice mindfulness : Made 1 entry today under this goal.

Embrace impermanence : Made an entry here about attending a funeral last week.

Stick to my goals: I hope reviewing my goals will help me stick to my goals.

give a gazillion cheers : made an entry here to celebrate giving over 4000 cheers.

give myself a pep talk : I’ve given myself 3 pep talks in the past week. They seem to help sometimes.

celebrate taking baby steps when anything bigger feels daunting : I’ve done this twice in the past week.

I am finally getting into the habit of looking at my goals, at least at work. I am still working on setting goals for myself personally. Getting a reminder to look at them regularly helps.

I did this tonight...  — 5 months ago

This week I made some progress with a new goal, “Do Flylady Missions”.

And I did better on an old goal, “Daily: Reflect on 5 things for which I’m grateful”.

And I completed my goal to “track all expenses for each week of January”, and I edited an older goal to create “track all expenses for each week of February”.

Next week I want to continue with Flylady and Daily Gratitude, and also focus on bill-paying and expense tracking. My progress will depend on how well I’m feeling, since I still am sick with shingles, so I’ll have to not forget “Take care of myself”.

...just attempting to read through all these goals and think about what I can do next to further them along. Think I need to take a break. But at least I’ve made a start at reviewing my goals.

I’m not sure how to go about doing this weekly goal review. It seems like it might be a good idea to map out my committments for the coming week, then look at what blocks of free time I have, and then pencil in some appointments for myself to work on some of my goals.

This all sounds good but I don’t know that I can actually do it.
