Jennifer is on her way towards making 2009 a great year!
I was shopping at Wegman’s when I saw this drink. I just had to try it. The name reminded me so much of Bare Necessities from the Jungle Book. :)
It was delicious. It reminded me of strawberries, but sweeter. I’d definitely drink it again.

Disney Days
Today and yesterday I decided to have an animated Disney marathon. I watched the special edition of Lion King for the first time last night, which had a small extra scene that was not in the original movie. It was a little strange to see it there, but it was short enough to not disrupt the movie, and it was a funny addition. The addition to the Beauty and the Beast special edition though is great, as it fit in perfectly, and they even made the end fit into the original cut seamlessly. Though, both were done so well that if you didn’t know they weren’t in the original, you wouldn’t know they were new animations.
Today, I watched Fantasia 2000 for the first time. I didn’t give the original Fantasia a fair chance, as it was so different from anything else. After watching two animated shorts that I loved that were supposed to be added to a cancelled 2004 Fantasia, I realized for the first time that the Fantasia movies were short animated films with no words. Thinking of it that way made Fantasia 2000 much easier for me to swallow. In fact, there were some great shorts in here: the Donald and Daisy short was great, and the last short of the movie was beautiful. They also had a number of hosts in the movie introducing the shorts and music which made the introductions stand out, which was great. The Penn and Teller introduction in particular was really well done, and the Steve Martin introduction was suitably goofy. :)

I have been using wordpress for my personal blog. I like to try new things, and someone recommended me to try blogger, so yesterday I started a more focused blog over there.
It’s not much different than wordpress, but the control panel is simpler and more efficient. I’ll definitely use both, as both are nice and both of my blogs serve a purpose. Though, now if someone recommends to me a different blog site, I’ll have a harder time coming up with something, but I’ll most likely still try it. :P

I love Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, so when I saw that they had a new flavor: Willie Nelson’s Peach Cobbler, I had to try it.
So, yesterday my mom and I had two bowls of it. And it was delicious! It tasted just like peach cobbler, and it had crust pieces and peach peaces inside the ice cream. Even the crust pieces were sweet. I would love to try this recipe as a real pie some day if that were possible, it’s that good! :)

I never used to like fish, but I am starting to like it more and more, just as long as it’s not fishy. I really enjoy a good fish fry, and I’ve never had one from Jean’s Beans. My mom told me they had a good fish fry, so we thought we’d try them for a change.
It was quite good, but I still prefer Legends, or my favorite – a fish fry from the VFW on Keefe St. They only serve it on the first Friday of every month now. Unfortunately, I always forget about it when the first Friday comes along.

I love Nesquick Buncha Banana milk, but no store around me carries it anymore. I always wanted to see if I could come up with something similar myself, but I don’t have a blender.
Today I decided I wouldn’t let that stop me and set out to see if I could try it with just a banana, a cup, and a spoon. Needless to say, that didn’t work out very well.
So I decided to try a bigger container and to try a knife, so that I could hack away at the banana while stirring it all in. Surprisingly, that worked very well. There was very little of the banana left at the bottom of the mixing bowl by the time I was done. The banana itself was very sweet, so I didn’t need sugar. I did add a little bit of vanilla extract though. It wasn’t at all like Nequick’s, it reminded me of a banana milk shake without the ice cream more than anything, but it was very good none-the-less. :)

Today I tried Thai food for the first time. I had rice noodles with peanut sauce. They were delicious! I love the taste of peanuts. My mom doesn’t like peanuts in her food unless it’s a dessert, but I personally think they work surprisingly well with dinner items. I’d definitely eat these again. I can’t wait to try more Thai food! :)

CouchSurfing
I enjoyed geocaching and postcrossing, so I decided to Google for activities similar to these. I saw an article about CouchSurfing, so I decided to investigate.
CouchSurfing is a site where you offer up your couch for people to stay with you, or just offer to have coffee or a drink with them so you can tell them a little bit about your area.
It seems like a neat idea, but I’m concerned about safety. They state that they have a screening process, but I’m still not entirely sold on the idea. I think I’m going to pick some locations to have a drink with someone at a cafe a few times and see how that goes, before (if ever) I even think about letting someone sleep on my couch or sleeping on someone else’s couch.

LucasArts used to include a magazine with their games called The Adventurer. Each issue contained a comic strip featuring Sam & Max facing situations that parodied whatever game LucasArts was working on at the time.
Issue #7 had a Sam & Max comic tackling Sam & Max’s own game, Sam & Max Hit the Road. Except rather than a standard comic, Steve Purcell made a board game out of the family road trip, complete with screaming kids and odd tourist locations. It was called Sam & Max Hit the Road: The Thrill Packed and Completely Unrelated Official Board Game.
I had the magazine for quite some time. I read the funny comments on the game’s spaces many times, but I never actually took the time to play the board game. Today I decided to change that for day one of this 43Things goal. :)
Mom and I played the game together. We didn’t have dice so we used three pennies. Each time a penny landed on heads it would be one move, every penny that landed on heads would be two moves.
The game was over pretty quick, as mom hit the space for the short cut over the bridge across the Enchanted Valley of Burning Tires. She beat me pretty bad, but I’ll even the score when I play her again tomorrow. :D

Day 1 and I’m already super excited about this ‘thing’.
My new thing today was baking bread from scratch. I used my bread maker but I used only wholesome ingredients e.g. organic unbleached flour, raw brown sugar, olive oil, linseed etc. rather than the normal packet mix.
A very simple new thing but I’m still quite chuffed :)
Looking for something else new to try today..
