be more independent

I have been with my partner for over ten years. When we first started dating, I thought it would be me and him against the world. In the spirit of compromise, I put my hobbies on the back-burner; until I was no longer doing things that once gave me joy.
It took me a long time to figure out, it is a lot to ask one person to make you happy all the time. There is nothing wrong with having multiple outlets for your interests. 6 months ago

Now that I have a real job. I started paying for my own groceries this week. 9 months ago

Saving up for my own place,
Getting a better and more enjoyable job,
Being financially secure,
Having emergency savings,
Getting myself from one place to the other as I do not have a car and hate relying on others for lifts unless I have to,
Not having a relationship for a bit to allow me time to focus on myself 10 months ago

I have pretty much been dependent on everyone and anyone to help me do everyday tasks. When I am better I will never take my independence for granted again. 14 months ago

a ‘secret’ savings account the other day- just somewhere I can stash a bit of money that only I know about. I feel that being financially independent will help me to become altogether independent. 16 months ago

I feel like I’m already very independent, but more from my family than anything. I depend on my friends and boyfriend a lot more than I wish I did, and that is definitely something I need to work on. 17 months ago

be more independent but I just do not feel that there is much I can do! I’m financially independent, saving up for my own place and I do not ask my parents for money and I pay a bill for them so that I am helping them out.

I do not ask them for much but I still have to run everything past them.

I work part time and study but I just feel like I am stuck in a rut at the moment. 21 months ago
