I abruptly quit my job a few weeks ago due to some drama and my general unhappiness with the place. I scrambled around for a few weeks, but then managed to set myself up with a good position at another hospital – one that appreciates my high skill level, treats me as an actual human being AND pays me what I’m worth. Imagine that!
But seriously, this new place pays like $10/hour more than my last job. Do the math on what kind of a raise I just got myself there.
So, what have I learned about my career recently?

I think I would like to take on a few extra shifts a month at the emergency clinic. It would help a whole lot.
To-Do:
1. Update resume to include current job.
2. Write a kick-ass cover letter.
3. Email both of these things to the clinic.
I’m still being really stubborn about moving. If I can’t live with a significant other, I’d like to live alone and I enjoy all the space here. Yeah, it’s expensive, but I’m not in a good enough mental state to be moving just yet. 20 months ago
I don’t want to move again, but now that I have to carry the entire rent on this apartment by myself, I might have to. I’d really rather not. I did a budget and figured out that I’d only need to come up with few hundred more a month to be able to stay here and still live comfortably. Now to figure out how I’m going to do that.
I can,
a) go for a promotion at work, which I’m going to do regardless
b) get a second, part-time job
c) start pet-sitting again 23 months ago

Yay, I have an interview lined up for the role I applied for last week! The interview is on Monday & I would really like to get the job. I am getting some new shoes for the interview & am going to study up the website of the organisation this weekend.

Totally went on the back burner due to a period of illness but it needs to become important again.
Today I have been working on an application for some part time work which I think will balance well with my desire to also spend a lot of time developing a creative career.
I have applied for quite a few full time jobs in the past weeks but I don’t seem to be getting far with that… I’ve been to a seminar that suggested that for each job you apply for there are currently 150 other applicants (on average…) HOOOOOLY. Tough contest.
But apparently we are now coming out of the recession here so hopefully things will get easier.
It would be a good time to be studying but the aforementioned illness got me too far behind on that & catching up would have put added stress on my body that was already not doing so well…

Well, the 2 week contract is up today and not being renewed at this stage (for good reason, there’s nothing for me to do!) so it’s back to the drawing board… It’s been good though & I’ve made in two weeks what I am used to getting across about 12-15 weeks so I definitely have a small buffer as well as having got a few new nice things. My plan now is to focus on applying for jobs and getting back to my art after the past two weeks of work. I have a scarf that I’ve neglected but would love to finish. A painting that has so so much more work to do on it. I want to go out on at least two photo missions in the next week. I want to watch some films. I want to sign up to a bunch of work agencies and I want to be available to attend interviews. It’s all good 3 years ago
It’s been good. I’ve actually been enjoying working again. I like having routine and I like knowing that I don’t have to worry so much about my spending…
This job I’ve been doing is my highest paid to date and I am looking around for something incase the contract is not renewed for another two weeks. I’ve found some jobs that I know I can do so I have to get to work in the evenings making sure I make strong applications. 4 years ago
My 1 week of working has become 2 & the 2nd week sounds like it might be work that actually involves the brain some more so hoorah!!
