mynenni Finished water quota for the day in only 5 hours!
We are involved in postcrossing; where we send postcards (and receive them) all around the word. I am going to walk to the postoffice every Saturday to send the postcards for that day.
Yesterday was the first day I decided to do this. I even stepped it up and went to pick us up lunch in a different direction afterwards. I typically would have driven for all of this. I even was tempted to walk to the post office and then come home and drive to the place I was going to pick up lunch. Instead, I walked the whole thing.
Surprising to me, it only took me just less than 30 minutes to do the whole trip! It actually only took me 5 minutes to walk to the postoffice; I thought for sure it would take at least 15 minutes.
Knowing this, I am defintely going to start walking more places. My mother-in-law lives only a 5 minute drive from us; from now on I am going to offer to walk over there when possible. If we are just going to go there and hang out, there’s no reason for me to drive. Of course, I will have to make an exception when I have to dress up to go out somewhere.
Maybe someday I can get my husband to join me as well; but even if I don’t, I am enjoying this!

Yesterday in the evening, my husband and I put on empty backpacks and walked to the grocery store. We purchased nonperishable items that filled the backpacks.
It was a beautiful evening to be walking together, getting exercise, handling an errand, and saving gas. Killed lots of birds with a single stone!

Last night my DH and I combined an evening walk with a trip to our local ATM. It’s a little farther than a simple neighborhood walk, but it was great to do this errand without consuming any gasoline.

Yesterday I had two places to go that were just a strip mall away. So I parked at the one place but and hiked to the other. Every little bit helps.

I did a brisk walk in our neighborhood yesterday for 45 minutes. It was a warm, cloudy, foggy late afternoon. I moved pretty fast, so I’m considering it a light workout.
It was good for my soul to be outside and see how the grass is getting green, the water is flowing in the brooks, the birds are making a racket, and the kids are outside playing basketball in their respective driveways. No, I probably didn’t burn as many calories as I would have at the gym, but I am regarding fitness in more dimensions than fat-burning, cardio training, or body building. I saved some gasoline, too! Woo woo!
I’ve been walking to the bus stop and back home for the last week!
I actually like that time spent walking. I like listening to my ipod and just thinking about.. stuff.
It’s my quiet self-time.
Hopefuly I can keep this up for longer.

It was a warm enough afternoon that my DH suggested that we try walking to the grocery store. We got our backpacks out and walked the four mile round trip.
It was great! After we returned, we weighed the packs to get an idea of what we had just accomplished. My pack weighed 16 pounds; DH’s pack was 25 pounds.
This activity took the place of going to the gym and using gasoline to get groceries. We had a chance to be together plus enjoy the sunny outdoors for an extended period of time. Yay!
I walked to the bus stop.
But I was just wearing the WRONG SHOES.
Why did I have to pick pointy toed heels.
Why.
WHY.
W H Y?!
It was a painful experience. GOING to the busstop was ok. but coming back was horrendous beause I was suffering from pain that I dealt with, all the way through uni. Walking back was 10 min of excruiciating pain. When I got home, I saw that littles bits of skin were scraped off of 3 of my toes, and 2 gigantic blisters forms on my 2 little toes. And 1 of the little blisters burst while I was walking and all the liquid in there oozed out.
I will do this another day with normal comfortable shoes. And I will do it sometime next week because the weather forecast is HORRIBLE for this week. (and I really hate carrying around umbrellas.. I really do).
