was the last day of our CSA share pickup. While I’ll miss the market over the winter, I’m grateful for the past six months’ of fresh goodies. smile2 months ago

Colleen_C_CAt the market

yesterday, one of the CSA leads told us that there had been 15% shareholder turnout Thursday evening—not d@mned bad for a first time thing! I enjoyed the meeting & learned a lot, & we’ve already placed a reservation for next year’s CSA with these same folks. I’m hoping to become more involved (perhaps with farm visits &/or by participating in a work-share). smile3 months ago

the shareholders meeting this evening, for our fruit-&-vegetable CSA at the farmers’ market. It was fun to meet some more folks & to hear their exciting plans for growth. smile3 months ago

Just a(nother) rave about how great our CSA (community-supported agriculture) food is—such terrific fruits & veggies in our “share” each week: wow! smile4 months ago

Colleen_C_CLucky me!

A family friend had gifted me with produce from her garden, so I’ve been enjoying fresh zucchini, carrots, green (snap) beans, & eggplant, in different combinations, & prepared in a variety of ways. smile5 months ago

Four of the past seven Fridays, I’ve gone to the weekly local market, where I bought some nice fresh fruit (purple figs & mirabella plums; purple figs again; red raspberries, apricots, & purple figs again; & strawberries & purple figs once more). smile5 months ago

has become such an ingrained habit by now that I think I can put the goal in my “completed” list (even as I keep doing it grin)! 6 months ago

Colleen_C_CMarket Day (5th CSA Pickup)

I came home with half a dozen red-ripe greenhouse tomatoes, four ears of sweet corn (on the cob), & a box of heirloom apples for baking. smile However, the fresh local peaches that I had wanted sold out before I could get there(!).

Although we didn’t receive the promised summer squash from Thursday’s list, our CSA basket nonetheless contained a lot of wonderful stuff to eat: a bunch of basil, three large kohlrabi, a head of garlic, a cooking onion, two heads of “Winter Density” lettuce, & two pounds (each!) of blackberries & apricots. smile6 months ago

Colleen_C_CMarket Day (4th CSA Pickup)

I came home with a couple more greenhouse tomatoes, a bunch of sweet basil, two nice zucchini, a loaf of locally-baked olive ciabatta bread, & a jar of terrific jam, made locally, of Comice pears & figs. However, the sweet corn that I had wanted sold out before I could get there(!).

Our CSA basket contained a head of garlic, a cooking onion, two heads of lettuce (different types) & a bunch of rainbow chard, enough Mexican tarragon & fennel to cook with, & two pounds (each!) of blueberries & cherries. smile7 months ago

Colleen_C_CMarket Day (Third CSA Pickup)

I came home with more greenhouse tomatoes, a bunch of Italian parsley, some ears of sweet corn, a loaf of locally-baked olive ciabatta bread, & a locally-baked rhubarb pie. yummy

Our CSA basket contained green onions, two heads of lettuce, a cucumber, a bunch of chard, a bunch of collard greens, a bunch of purple kohlrabi, two pounds of blueberries, a quart of blackberries, & some cinnamon basil. smile7 months ago
