go to France

I have always said that I wanted to spend my 30th b-day under the Eiffel Tower and I shall. Watch! 17 months ago

I was hoping to do it this coming spring but I haven’t learned one French word in the past year and all my money for the next several months is going to be tied up in paying off debts and moving. Honestly I can’t even imagine putting serious effort into learning the language until summer…ha, like I take anything seriously in summer. So I’m thinking spring 2013.

Of course this also brings up the question of sigh doing this in the context of being somebody’s girlfriend. He won’t want to go to the monastery. He hates silence, he doesn’t like meditation in any conventional form, and unless we were married we probably wouldn’t see much of each other the whole week we’d be there. He likes the idea of going to France but he would want to head for Paris, hang out in cafes, drink some of the local alcoholic beverages, and go to the Louvre. I wouldn’t mind going to the Louvre but I can only drink so much coffee and I don’t drink alcohol anymore at all. I don’t want to wait until he saves enough money to go with me either. He’s horrible at saving money. Also he doesn’t like traveling in general. Maybe I can convince him to let me go off and be a nun for a week and then we can go terrorize Paris together at some later date. 18 months ago

I’ve been in Paris a few years ago with my fiancee and it was fantastic. Then at the beginning of March this year we drove from Calais to Chamonix. Too bad we had just a few days to do that and couldn’t do or see enough. Our promise is to go again and spend more time. 2 years ago

I’ve looked at the contiki tours recently. They look like fun.
