Its been challenging, but anything worth doing is challenging. But, I have been getting back to the gym and strength training about 2 to 3 times per week. Unfortunately this cold sidelined me temporarily.

Good times! 16 months ago

BlueFernNot quite...

Well… I did take a brisk 46-minute walk. Perhaps I will gradually move up to strength training after performing warm-ups and cardio exercise. 17 months ago

I started jogging and bike riding recently and have kinda back-tracked as I was going about twice a week, on average and now I’ve slipped to about once a week because my partner has started working and we can’t go together like we did but I know I can get over that hurdle and get back to my cardio more often, I just have to get used to going by myself. The challenge is going to be the strength training, which shouldn’t be a big thing cuz my BF has a bowflex but I need him to show me how to use it and space is also an issue. We live together so that’s not an issue, it’s just making myself get a start on it. I know it is going to make me feel so awesome and I’ve lost a couple pant sizes and can tell my body is going through a transformation due to the increase in activity with the walking/jogging and biking and that would help me tone up my many flabby areas and become healthier and stronger! I know I can do this! 23 months ago

I trained hard and heavy for about 6 months last year. Got up to 210lbs thanks to a high calorie diet packed with protein and carbohydrates.

Feels great to be strong. Gives you power and self-confidence, not to mention health benefits, provided you don’t take anabolics.

The hard part is keeping it up. Diet is key, without a solid diet- religiously followed each day- it will be hard to make and maintain strength gains and mass.

I lost a lot of muscle in the last few months from stopping training.
My advice: If you’re gonna do it, stick to it long term- or you’re just wasting your time, effort and money. 2 years ago

ready steadyat long last

i actually have been doing this – and with some regularity even. i’ve only been making it to the gym once a week this past month. but i’ve been every week and i hop on the arm muscle machines every time.

i really should be doing it more often. the snow just really messed up my routine. winter’s days are numbered, and momentum is on my side.

huge progress, so far. if i can get a few weeks of getting to the gym at least twice, i will consider this goal a success. 3 years ago

ready steadyI think I can actually do this.

I am making it to the gym at least twice a week so I can knock out running and weight lifting at once. I just made it part of my schedule. I really think this much needed goal can get underway now.

Yeah, at a qigong workshop I heard a woman in her later fifties say that she had the bones of an 80 year old. She had the same slight build as me. Hearing that along with recent back issues I’ve been experiencing has been a real motivator. No messing around. This body needs maintenance! 3 years ago
