cashing in my chips  — 3 months ago

its been a good run. i pulled in a few thou over each of the last couple years playing locally, but i dont think i have real interest in raising the stakes more and i’ve gotten a little bored with the game. its fun to step out of my normal straight-laced life to play with the crowd i do on occasion, but i’d prefer to move it to a more laid back lower stakes home game. best of luck to all of you!

i kicked ass last night!  — 1 year ago

I went to my second poker night, this time at the olympic hotel. I did so much better. I got impatient at the end but i lasted to the final 4 tables – not too shabby for my second go. I know ill improve now that i got that first time nerve thing out of the way!

Not good  — 1 year ago

I had my first go at playing poker at the northcote rsl last night – it didnt go very well lol! I got nervous though i dont know why, and rushed it and bet way too much on a weak hand and got shot for it and was the first to go out on the table, probably in the whole room haha! Never mind, i got the first one out of the way and learnt from it. I’m going again to the olympic tonight and i know ill be more confidant and relaxed, and not get intimidated by the whole thing. One thing’s for sure is that I cant do any worse! It’s a whole different game playing against other people not my family and playing online – playing with strangers and in that environment was alot more daunting than i thought but ill get more used to it as i go more

Gearing Up  — 1 year ago

I’ve not been playing long but intend on getting pretty good – have started with books by Sklansky and Harrington, paracticing online and playing small live tournaments at the Gutshot card club in London.

My game has improved immensely already, but still has a long way to go! Hopefully by the time qualifier time rolls around next year I’ll be fit to qualify for a bunch of events. Which ones will depend on dates as I have other commitments that summer, but then I’m happy to leave the Main Event ‘til the year after!

Yeah!  — 2 years ago

I think WSOP is a dream of any decent poker player. Moreover you can qualify for main event at almost every online poker site out there.

Next year i’m going to play satellites.

P.S. nice Johnny Chan photo

THIS IS OBTAINABLE!!  — 2 years ago

You don’t need an extra 10K laying around the house to do this. If you are any kind of poker player at all there are several big online poker sites that are just giving these seats away in freerolls!!! I’ve personally qualified for two already. Good Luck!

P.S. Now winning the WSOP is a different story.

Considering the entry fee  — 2 years ago

For the cheapest tournament is $1,500, I’m betting not. Get it? Betting?? Ahem. Well, anyway, this isn’t happening.
