Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

HeatherIt's been years...

...but I have finally seen a doctor. While I know I am overwieght and that it has consequences on my health, just hearing a professional tell me where I need to be based on where I am puts a scare in me. Gotta jump on this, this holiday season. I am taking a walking/vegetarian pledge for the month of December.

I want to exercise everyday because it will benefit me physically and emotionally.

I joined the gym to help me along with this goal, and I’ll be going for my induction this weekend. I’ve previously been a member of a gym but found myself getting bored with using the same equipment all the time.

So, to alleviate the boredom, I’ve joined a gym that offers a good range of fitness classes. I’m planning to go to four different classes a week, and the other three days I’ll either a) walk outside b) use my wii fit or c) use the equipment in the gym. 14 months ago

My new goal is to get some kind of exercise everyday, for at least 25 minutes. Running, weights, dancing, climbing, biking, yard work, etc. Something everyday for at least 25 minutes. 15 months ago


Miss Printcurrently: 4-5 times per week

For the past three weeks I’ve been doing some sort of sports 4-5 times per week. Most of that was either through classes or together with other people.

I have to say that I find it challenging to exercise on my own. It’s not quite as much fun and it’s not as easy to make time for it – when I’m feeling lazy I might end up skipping where I wouldn’t skip a class. This will be the main challenge for now, as the only class I’m taking over the summer is yoga once a week.

4-5 times per week seems a lot to me already regarding the time it takes, so I’m not sure if I’ll eventually get to exercise daily. At the same time, I’ve been having problems with low blood pressure and feeling fatigued and I guess lots of exercise would do me a world of good. For now I’ll keep the goal as it is and just see how it develops. 15 months ago
