I saw it back in theaters, and while for a good part of my childhood I really liked Star Wars, one day I was re-watching episode II and I realized how horrible the dialogue was. I then became one of those people that went around saying “the old ones were better” but one day I re-watched them and realized that they were no better, with the same cheesy dialogue and bad acting. The only good thing about them was Harrison Ford, and one man can only redeem a movie so much. The third one follows the tradition of bad dialogue, this time giving a horribly crude analysis of how evil is formed. I was completely de-sensitized to the lightsaber battles, which were so riddiculously fast that they looked like a glowing blur. The very ending moment was so horrible I laughed, with Darth Vader trying to convey agony but coming off as just stupid. I’ve got a lot of friends who really like Star Wars and don’t agree with me on this issue, but I honestly thought it was awful.

luinel is wondering what her next big goal should be....
I was more than a bit disappointed. I wasn’t expecting much of anything, but i certainly wasn’t expecting Padme to turn into a weak whining damsel-in-distress and let herself die! She kicked ass in the other movies, why did he have to go and ruin the character? Besides, whatever happened to Leia remembering her mother? He totally cut that out, i was certain Padme would go into hiding and live a few more years. Poor Ewan was also underutilized. And the whole Ani screaming “No!” was just too corny. It could have been done a lot better. But i’m still glad that i went to the midnight viewing as i had fun and i had to have the series concluded, now didn’t i? I grew up on Star Wars. And it did have some good moments.
It’s a dud, save your money. Or better yet, go rent the original trilogy. Can’t get any more classic than that.

George outdid himself, and produced the best of the most recent trilogy. I was deeply impressed with the art design, and the script was the best of the three recent films. I enjoyed it, I truly enjoyed it.
