I split my time between Upper Michigan and the Chicago area for about 2 years. When I worked I stayed with my parents or girlfriend (now wife). When I wasn’t working I kept my primary residence in Upper Michigan. Of course, I had a pretty killer work schedule to make this worthwhile.
In some ways it was like I was two people. My work self and my home self.
however, for the time being i am not pursuing this so I can devote myself to more pressing issues.
5. if it is 3 pm in Dubai what time is it in – Vancouver , Toronto, Buenos, Aires, London, Paris, pragve , Moscow , Bangkok, Sydney.
I’m a long way from being able to start working on this goal but it’s been on my mind for years, so it’s worth adding to my list. The 2nd home would be somewhere i set up a different lifestyle, probably somewhere where i wouldn’t work – possibly focus on music and use it as a base to travel from. It also needs to be big enough to entertain guests & with access to amenities & technology but still very affordable – SE asia fits the bill, maybe Thailand or Malaysia. Come back to England to work for 8 months and let out the 2nd house as a holiday home whilst in the UK, then relax for 4 months abroad.
lob still enjoying my traincard

I divide my life between two homes… half the year in Sweden and half in Arizona
Worth doing!
I seem to be doing this goal every week. I’m either at home in the Imperial Valley desert or traveling somewhere on the West Coast for work (mostly Carlsbad or LA area). I feel satisfied with this goal for now. I get the best of both worlds; my own beautiful house in a gorgeous little community, and all of the benefits of big city living (although most of So. Cal. is one giant suburb anyway).
Next month I’ll be going up to the Bay Area to work with the band for a long weekend. Mike has a new drummer, as well as a ton of acoustic gigs. It will be nice to be up there again.
I’ve spoken to some friends downunder, and apparently the worst of the winter weather has past. I’d love to take a trip down there later this year. Who knows? I’m definitely divided my time between “more” places this year.

and it’s kind of worth it.
i did this when i was prancing about europe and then lived in berlin for a while. and i just gave it another try by staying down in san diego. i think if i had some wealth and could actually set up house in two locations – well, it would probably more worthwhile. but living out of a suitcase in two places is just plain hard work.
i will always travel – and perhaps until i make that first billion i’ll be pleased as punch with “just” traveling.

People ask me where I live now, and the answer is really 4 different places
My house on the outskirts of a major city
RIGHT downtown condo..my favorite
With my daughter to help with an elderly relative, almost a nurse’s assistant type of responsibility and helping 12 year old twins with homework and other stuff
At my daughter’s Georgia barrier island condo part of the year
This is all new to me. I worked and lived one place, joined the Peace Corps and was one place for two years, then came back to the US with this kind of unsettled situation.
