Started building a ramp for Otto that goes from the top of the fridge across the hallway. He would be able to look down as if from a branch on both sides of him and swat at people underneath :o) I got a used piece of lumber that was in the parking garage, painted to match the walls, and nailed a long strip of carpet cut from a doormat from the dollar store. When I get back home from Christmas I will put it up with shelving brackets :o) Total cost will be $5! 3 years ago

Today I put up a shelf by the window for Otto. It is his shelf only, so he can sit there with space and look out. Right now he is loving watching all the snow flurries. It’s amazing how mesmerized he gets!
I was wondering about cat hypnosis, just for fun the other day. I think I may try it. 3 years ago
Once this turns into a habit, I will consider the goal done. I’m not sure how to make it a habit though, because I would need some regular time to play with Otto. In the morning is sometimes rushed, but maybe it would be good to do it before I do yoga. I will try for that, and on the days it doesn’t happen I play with him before I feed him at night.
Today we played with some twine because he thought it smelled funny. Trying to use different toys each time so he doesn’t get bored. He definitely reacts differently with certain ones though, so I can tell his favourites. It’s good for him to get his aggression out by “killing” my hand when I’ve got the dangly glove on, and he is much sweeter during the rest of the day :o) 3 years ago
Otto is getting 15 minutes of play time every day. He is less aggressive even when he is annoyed with me, and he is sleeping more at night. ALL’S WELL!
I also changed his diet a bit to include more wet food, less dry food. Apparently it’s much healthier, because cats don’t get enough water, and wet food also has fewer calories (which I thought was the opposite case!) and Otto LOVES his new diet regime. 3 years ago
Success for today! This is making Otto a much happier little fella. He sleeps better at night, too. Which means I sleep better at night! 3 years ago
... and for today I have succeeded. We have a few games we like to play. One is with a plastic gun we got at the dollar store, with little suction cup darts. I shoot them and Otto runs after them. We also play with a toy on a string, he chases his dry food when I toss it along the ground, he has a feather stick toy, and a glove with catnip filled toys on the fingers that I dangle and he attacks and munches on. We do all of these in one day and it’s about 15-20 minutes of play. Sometimes he feels like just playing with one though! 3 years ago
My cat Juri is so playful.. he always sits at my feet or meow’s at me to get my attention so I’ll come and play with him. If I just throw something like a paper ball and expect him to occupy himself he gets really pissed off. Sometimes if I go out a lot and he doesn’t see much of me he’ll get so frustrated with me he’ll lash out. Thankfully for me Juri is such a sook I usually only get a nip on the leg.
He’s a pedigree so we keep him indoors a lot. My boyfriend worries about him getting stolen because he’s so friendly. I feel bad for having an indoors cat but I let him come and go as he pleases if I’m home. I think we should both give him more attention and play with him so this is one of my goals for this year. Just want my baby to be happy! 4 years ago
i always seem to be out and about nowerdays and the one that has noticed this the most is my cat jingle! so i now hope to play with her for at least 10 minutes a day 4 years ago
I’m going to mark this as done, because I made a toy my cat absolutely adores and it is so easy for me to just pick it up as I’m passing through the living room and play with her for awhile. Before there was no such toy in our house, so we would have to throw a ball around (you can imagine how much energy that would require of me. Sometimes she wouldn’t be interested in chasing it so I would have to walk back and forth for no reason, hence why I didn’t play with her too often. She still played a lot at night hitting her ball around and running around the house, pouncing on things, but this goal was here to remind me to play with her! 5 years ago
