Unfinished 1 month ago

I have yet to finish the grammar book, but there’ll be time for that over the next couple of years.
Also, after grad school, I want to work in the Middle East. Surely, that will make me an expert in the language :)
And I’ll have a dictionary, watch a lot of film and TV in Arabic, and … meantime I must return to the Arab Film Festival next year or the next. The AFF is such perfection.

I’m currently taking a language course in Arabic in college and I would love to be able to fluently speak it by the time I graduate. I absolutely love the language and hope to study abroad in Morocco next summer for an intensive study of the language.

I don’t know how useful Arabic will be to me, but I’m really drawn to the language for some reason. I’ve spent some time in Cairo and took an Arabic class while I was there. I learned enough to get by (talking to cab drivers and waiters, fending off the boys ;) etc.) but that was almost 3 years ago and I’ve lost a lot of what I had. It’s such a bad ass language! I’ve got the Rosetta Stone level 1 program now, and hopefully it’s as good as they say it is. It’s funny… I took German in high school, and although it is much easier than Arabic, I cheated my way through. Go figure.

I am Arabian BUT....... 14 months ago

I am very serious towards arabic learning although my native language is Arabic! but it’s still way different than classic arabic.. AND although i used to hate it at school.. for me it was the mooost boring thing to do or to attend ever…
I enjoy learning languages, so i even started with some native arabic speakers to learn so.. I don’t tell any of my friends coz they would laugh at me… but truely it is different and also it will help me to be more proffesional in reports and official stuff and above all understanding our holly book QURAN
Now when i read Quran with a different eye, with a vision beyond letters.. I AM LOVING IT..

Schulz grammar book 23 months ago

In Cairo. This morning before work I looked through the book and it doesn’t seem difficult. It will help me with Lexis and Structure and other grammar rules, help a bit with vocab and not much more.
Perhaps I’ll take the AUC Intermediate course in May-July? Perhaps.

Going to do a six-month internship in Cairo, so my Arabic will certainly improve a lot.

Speak and understand arabic 2 years ago

I have been trying to learn and understand arabic for so long. Of course, I have yet to achieve my dream but to date I have tried the following:

1. Bought an Arabic learning book and CD
2. Enrolled myself into an Arabic Class
3. Speak one or two Arabic phrases with my Saudi relatives.
4. Be in an Arab land = Bahrain.

My target is to achieve this within the next two years. As this is a long way to go, can anybody suggest to me the easiest or fastest way to go?
